when he kissed your neck,

and muttered sweet nothings to your ears,

did you instantly forget you were an emotional wreck,

as he extinguished your fears?

were you so in love with the thought of love,

that you've forgotten how to fight your enemies within?

were you afraid to lay your feelings out to serve,

as you drown yourself in sin?

you've gained yourself a partner in life,

but have you lost yourself to the knife?

because love can make you vulnerable,

and fear will eat its way alive.
