I saw you,

not the one sprawled across the bedroom floor,

but your soul that shone almost like a lure,

in that yellow demeanor,

that almost seemed too pleasant,

for your expression looked meaner.

I saw you,

the one I used to call my all,

you were once so bright in colour,

I never thought I'd lose my temper.

you were the sun,

radiating endless possibilities,

but now you're nothing but sand,

the roughness shaped my personality.

I saw you,

in that different shade of yellow,

when you were once more mellow,

and I couldn't ask for more,

because you planted happiness in my core.

snapped back to reality,

gripping every bit of my sanity,

I looked at you vaguely,

your fearful eyes tried to deny what you've done wrong,

as if it was just another sunny day when I'd sing a song,

and you'd play along,

in that worn-out piano out of tune,

you'd sink into my shirt which has your favourite perfume.

I locked eyes with you once again,

looking for an answer, an explanation, a string of words,

or just nothing at all,

did it even matter? I asked myself,

because you were my sun,

and I will learn to love every bit of you that's yellow.
