Chapter 11: His Treat

"SO KAILAN ka ikakasal?" Pukaw ni Sheila kay Monica. Nasa loob sila ng isang coffee shop.

                Si Sheila ay ang isa sa nakasama niya noong nag-OJT pa siya sa isang TV station. Ikakasal na ito 2 months from now at sa kanyang flower shop kukunin ang mga bulaklak na kakailanganin sa kasal. Sheila was telling her how she met her Prince Charming. Habang nakikinig siya rito'y bigla na lang niyang naisip si Wesly.

                "Nic. Are you still listening to me?"

                Napakurap-kurap siya. "I am. Where are we?"

                "Hindi ka naman nakikinig eh! Kanina pa kita tinatanong kung kailan ka ikakasal?" Anito sabay higop ng kape. "When can I meet him? Dapat naroon kayo sa kasal ko hah?"

                Wala siyang masabi rito. She took a sip of her coffee. "It would be better if we'll talk about your upcoming wedding not  mine 'coz that's so far from the truth."

                "Aren't you having a boyfriend now?" Sheila asked her with raised eyebrows.

                Bigla siyang natameme. Nag-iisip siya kung sasabihin niyang may boyfriend siya. Yes. She has a pretend boyfriend but telling it to friends was not part of the deal. "Yes but he's in the US now."

                "He's an American?"

                "No. He just went there for a trip."

                "So he didn't invite you to come with him?"

                "He did but it was for a business trip. I refused of course." She took one last sip. "Could we get out of here?"

                "Mabuti pa nga. Why don't we go to your shop?"

                "That sounds to be a good idea." Kinuha niya ang bag at inilagay sa balikat.

                Dahil walang dalang sasakyan si Sheila ay nakisakay na lang ito sa kanya hanggang sa makarating sila sa kanyang flower shop sa Alabang. Kasalukuyang may kinakausap na mga customers ang tatlong katiwala niya doon kaya hindi niya inistorbo ang mga ito.

                "Meron ding akong shop sa Makati at Pasay but usually flowers are delivered here first. Ito rin kasi ang pinakaunang flower shop na itinayo ko. Aside from that, we have 5 flower arrangers and decorators here."

                "I never expected na magiging negosyante ka Nic. Mas iniisip ko noon na papasukin mo ang show business dahil sa mga nag-aalok na mga director sa iyo. They want to see you on TV than hiding off the camera as a junior researcher."

                "This kind of business just really interests me. Kung alam ko nga lang na ito ang kahahantungan ko, sana nag Business Ad na lang ako." Tumawa siya  ng mahina. "If only I had thought about this before."

                "Well, everything really happened for a reason. Kung hindi ka nag MassCom, hindi ka nakapag-OJT sa TV station. And I wouldn't know you." Kapwa silang tumawa sa sinabing iyon ni Sheila.

                "I've been looking for you since earlier." Isang baritonong tinig ang nagmumula sa kanilang likuran. "I've been calling you for the last 2 hours but your phone was out of reach. Pumunta ako sa shop sa Makati but you're not there. Sabi ni Letty baka nandito ka. I'm glad I found you here." Nagtama ang kanilang mga mata nang lingunin niya ito.

                Sheila's confused face was looking at Wesly and her alternately. Kinuha niya ang phone sa bag and then she found out it was empty.
