KINSLEY POV
Okay... no... no using powers... until we understand Sylar's better...Got it...I...ahh yea...I can do that right?
Oh gracious, how in the world is this going to work?
Oh my gosh...what happens when Asher and Fate find out...when they learn what's happened... I..Uh...W...
O...Okay Kinsley...Come on... pull it together...You CAN do this... Sylar needs you... Look at her...She's so tiny and needs help...We need to clean her up and pull everyone together.
I look down at that tiny little girl before looking around at my brothers. I know what to do now. There's a lost look on their faces I've not seen before but I know what it means now. They don't know what to do next. They have no clue how to handle a little girl. Nora, Lila, Avery and I came in already knowing how to take care of ourselves or each other. So none of the boys have ever had to step up and take care of a girl. It would be funny if it wasn't such a dire situation.
"Okay, boys get the beds moved around. Make sure everything is set up to watch a movie and still be comfortable." I see the appreciation in each of their eyes as they nod to me and get to work quickly moving around the 9 beds.
I kneel down, "Eli," I look him in the eyes like this is the most important mission I have ever given him, "you make sure the boys don't eat the food while they need to be working okay?" When he salutes me with a huge smile before moving on I know I've done the right thing.
Raising up I look to the girls. "Lila and Avery could you please go find Sy some clothes that will fit her. Maybe you can loan her a pair of pj's Lila?" Both girls nod leaving the room quickly. I can hear Lila getting a bit excited to share her things and Avery as she calmly reminds her to keep quiet.
"Nora." I say seriously. "We need to clean her up." I want so badly to ask how bad it was but I only have to look into Nora's eyes to see that it was the worst. I sigh heavily before moving to Sylar.
One of the boys has already dampened some cloths and placed a small bowl of water next to her. I look up to see Max walk back towards the bathroom. Soon he returns with dry towels as well. I thought that he would move to help the boys after I took them from him. However, he only backed away to lean against the wall continuing to stare at Sylar.
I was about to make a snarky remark to lighten his mood when Nora touches my arm. I look over at her in surprise. She never touches anyone on purpose. She quickly removes her hand from my arm before meeting my eyes and slightly shaking her head.
It only takes a second before it registers how badly this thing was. Max, who we took to jokingly calling the Iceman, has been shaken to the core tonight. He doesn't know how to handle emotions because they affect his powers unpredictably. Which is why Sylar was hurt. The how is not important because the why is. The why is because Max used his powers when they were uncontrolled something he has never done...ever. He has always known when he has to step back. So why is it Sylar created such a bizarre and wild reaction?
I snap out of it when I look down at the tiny little girl. How could she create such a mess?
"Max." I say quietly. "We will need help lifting and moving Sylar to clean and change her. Would you mind helping us?" Max moves from the wall faster than I have ever seen him move. He bends down and gently touches Sylar's forehead. Not able to hide the shaking of his hand. Nora and I begin to work quickly. Soon Sylar is free of any blood and changed into a fresh gown.
Max made sure she was laying on the most comfortable space and that he was close by her in case she needed anything. But we all know this is just the beginning. His guilt will eat at him until he can apologize. The thing is Sylar is not like the rest of us. Who knows if she will truly understand the magnitude of what happened tonight.
But she has still not moved on her own or came to for the past hour and a half. No one is saying anything but I know Nora when she is worried which is always. But now Aiden and Max are visibly worried. Silas has taken to silence as he does when he is in his head. The rest of us are just trying to act normal in a crazy situation that feels like the sky just fell.
What if this is it? What if she never wakes up again? What if Fate and Asher disown us for this? What if she doesn't want to stay?
We all sit and watch silently praying that this little girl will be okay. We all whisper quietly trying to pass the time as we stare at this little girl who holds our future in the palm of her hand. And she doesn't even know it.
