Chapter 2

CHAPTER 2

The bushes rustled to my right. I beamed my flashlight onto a peppered gray bunny.

"I thought you were going to go for the bear form." I said even though I knew she wasn't ready for an animal that size. The bunny shimmered and rippled as the form began to grow. Less than a minuet later the form solidified to the shape of Lils.

"What do you want?" she said stubbornly. She was shivering in her T-shirt and shorts.

"What I want is for you to come back inside the house we are fortunate enough to have." Lils mumble something about the confinement but shuffled after me.

I pushed the lock back into place on the kitchen door. I had greeted the warmth of the house from the cold weather outside.

"Why couldn't I have stayed outside?" Lils complained.

"Because you know how dangerous it is to be out there alone especially at your age. Your not skilled enough to be on your own yet."

"I'm not a child any more!" Lils stamped her foot. I raised an eyebrow at her. She rolled her eyes and shifted her weight. "I couldn't sleep. I needed to clear my head." She said quietly.

"Why couldn't you sleep?"

"I- I don't know." She stammered. "I have this weird feeling and I don't like it. My head is swimming with thoughts." I put my arm over her shoulder and gave her a quick squeeze.

"Me too. How about some how about some hot coco?"

"That would be nice." She said as I placed the kettle on the stove. "You have school tomorrow so you better wake up on time. Oh, that reminds me, Jack is coming over in the morning. He will drive with us to school."

"Cool." Lils showed a small smile as she took the mug from my hand. She trudged up the stairs but she stopped at the top and turned to look at me. "Do you think anything will ever happen to us?"

"I don't know, Lils, I wish I did." she nodded then headed back to her room.

Hello!!! Update! yaaaaa. I'm on time for my update! ok I know nothing much happened in this chapter but I just wanted to warm up to the characters. I don't want anything happening to fast.
