"Do I have to be here?" I asked while looking down at my red painted nails. Elijah and I were currently outside some old, crusty house. He found the location of the newest doppelgänger and decided to drag me along to retrieve her. I was skeptical about coming, Katerina was a vampire so her line would have ended with her. I could currently be enjoying some wine with Niklaus but of course, the doppelgänger is more important.

"Well you do have a history of befriending doppelgängers. Maybe if you got along with her she'd be more willing to comply." Elijah said with a hint of a smirk spreading across his face. He did make a good point. I was best friends with Tatia and Katerina. I rolled my eyes at him as he knocked on the door. Rose appeared and ushered us inside.

On the outside the house was shit but the inside was a thousand times worse. Paint was peeling off the walls, the furniture was either broken or stained, and the windows were poorly covered with wooden planks.

"Rose-Marie. Is there somewhere we can talk?" Elijah formally asked.

"Yes, in here. You have to forgive the house." Rose said nervously bringing us into another room.

"Do you always choose to live in squalor?" I said slyly. Elijah gave me a disapproving look and Rose turned to face me.

"Why are you here? As far as I'm concerned my deal is with Elijah not you." She said stalking towards me.

My hand shot out and gripped her neck, squeezing it tightly as my eyes flashed a luminescent yellow. "The man you've been running from for over a hundred years is very fond of me, so if I were you I would shut up." I told her maliciously.

"You're the Immortal Werewolf." She gasped out calling me the nickname I've acquired over the centuries. I released my hold on her neck and we continued on our walk through the large house.

"So tell me, what is it that gives you the courage to call me?" Elijah asked, breaking the silence.

"I wanted my freedom. I'm tired of running. You in a position to grant me that?" Rose replied.

"I have complete authority to grant a pardon to you and your little pet. What is his name these days? Trevor. If I so see fit." He said in a mocking tone.

"Katerina Petrova," Upon hearing Rose say her name I tuned back into the conversation. "She didn't burn in the church in 1864." I wasn't surprised by this new information, Katerina's a survivor, she probably bribed the guard.

"Continue." Elijah said curiously.

"She survived."

"Where is she?" I asked wanting to know her location, maybe we could go to Chicago and catch up one day.

"You both don't seem surprised by this." Rose said confused.

"Well when Elijah called and brought me into this asshole of civilization, which is three hours away from Mystic Falls, I assumed it had everything to do with Katerina. Is she here?" I said raising a perfectly arched eyebrow.

"No, but I have better, her doppelganger." Rose stated.

"That's impossible, her family line ended with her. I know that for a fact." Elijah said.

"The facts are wrong." Rose said surely.

"Show her to us." I demanded.

"Elijah, you are a man of honor, you should be trusted but I want to hear you say it again." Rose spoke cautiously.

"You have my word that I will pardon you." Elijah promised. Rose then looked at me with an eyebrow raised, silently asking me to do the same.

I sighed. "Fine you can get your stupid pardon."
