His Partner in Crime

Elijah, Stefan, Elena, and I woke up early to discuss today's plans. The full moon is tonight so everyone is getting pretty paranoid. "Tonight is the full moon. Niklaus is already prepared to break the curse." I told them.

"Elena said that the sun and moon curse is fake? It's actually just a curse placed on Klaus." Stefan asked.

"Klaus is a vampire born of a werewolf bloodline. The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting. But if he breaks it, he'll become a true hybrid." Elijah explained. I walked over to the mini bar and poured myself a drink. This is gonna be a stressful day.

"Then why are we letting him break the curse? We can kill him today with Bonnie." Damon said joining us.

"Damon.." I scolded him.

"No. Bonnie can't use that much power without dying." Elena said. I handed Damon a drink, knowing he needed one too.

"I'll write her a great eulogy." He said waving his arms around.

"Bonnie dying isn't an option Damon. My deep hatred for witches will probably never go away and even I have to admit that she's very useful to us."

"All right, how do we break this curse?" Stefan said trying to get back on topic.

"Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward. The ingredients, so to speak, you already know." Elijah said.

"The moonstone." I sat down on the couch next to Stefan.

"A witch will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell that's bound within the stone. After that, Klaus, being both werewolf and vampire, will sacrifice one of each." Elijah further explained.

"And where do I fit into it?" Elena asked.

"You're the final part of the ritual." I said. Elijah took a wooden box off the shelf.

"Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelgänger...to the point of your death." Stefan took Elena's hand. Elijah removed an old jar from the box.

"That's where Elijah's solution comes in." I told Damon.

"This is an elixir that I acquired some 500 years ago for Katerina. It possesses mystical properties of resuscitation." He said holding it up to the light.

"So I'll be dead?" She said.

"And then you won't." Elijah told her. Damon shot up from his seat in anger.

"That's your plan? A magical witch potion with no expiration date?" He looked to Elena,"You want to come back to life, what about John's ring?"

"Those rings only work on humans. A doppelgänger is supernatural, I wouldn't bet for it to work." I said downing my drink.

"I'll take those odds over Elijah's elixir. What if it doesn't work, Elena?" He said with concern.

"Then I guess I'll just be dead." I choked on my drink when she said that. Damon looked to Stefan then shrugged.

"Come on Vanessa, we've helped enough. She's a lost cause." Damon said. I grabbed a bottle of scotch and went outside with him.

"Do you really believe that?" I asked once we were outside.

"I'm starting to, she won't accept my help." He grabbed the bottle out of my hand and took a swig of it.

"Breakfast of champions, huh?" Stefan said coming outside.
