Soon after the incident at the shop, Cassidy was walking through the front doors of the school with a giggling Kelley. They both hand pastry's in their hands, warm and buttery things freshly bought from the bakery outside the school. It was such a drab and snowy day that Cassidy had decided to grab something warm before her first class, before realising that she would probably have to pick something up for the girl as well- just to be fair.
Initially, the girl had rejected the idea but after almost five minutes of coaxing the girl yielded, and let Cassidy buy her an apple danish. It was nice, but the thought of Kelley going back home to nothing weighed heavily on her mind. Even as she stood in front of the board in her classroom, twenty kids behind her and, miraculously, silent. It had taken two weeks for them to stop asking her personal questions, and even now she was still going through rigorous hazing even having been teaching at the school for almost a year. Most of it had died off though, thank God, and they seemed to like her. That was good. Great, even. Because she liked her kids too.
Sighing, she rubbed at her face. When they had first split, Kelley saying she was going to study in the library and Cassidy having to go and sort her room out, she had notified the higher staff about her 'weird behaviour'. Having phones in classrooms was really handy, she remarked, looking over to the corded phone on her desk and smiled as she noticed some of her kids, 'Happy birthday' cards. Angels didn't have birthdays, more-so re-birthdays. To be honest, she doesn't really remember her human life. Only knowing that it was a long time ago, and not in England. When the kids had asked, she hadn't known what to say and just said the first date that came into her head. It was almost two weeks ago, and she had still kept the cards. Biting at her lip, she flexed her hand- mind drifting back to Kelley...
What would have happened if she hadn't used her powers? It wasn't ethical, by any means, and was really very intrusive but she had to know if she was okay. And, yeah, maybe she was just a little bit nosy but who could blame her?-
"-Miss! You gonna write the starter or nah?" Scowling, Cassidy spun on the balls of her feet before crossing her arms.
"Maybe you'd like to be more polite?" The kid rolled his eyes before swinging in his chair, twirling his pencil in his hand again.
"Could you please get on with the starter on the board, Miss Reynolds." Smiling slightly, Cassidy relaxed her stance, her hip cocking to the side.
"That wasn't that difficult, eh Alex?" He rolled his eyes again, choosing to not retort as he sat-pointedly staring at the still clear board.
Internally, she rolled her eyes. He acted like he was tough shit, but he was the first person in her class to give her a birthday card and her some milky-way buttons for her birthday. God, her kids were so cute they hurt.
"Alright, alright- just give me a minute to find my pen."
After seeing the monstrosity that had been the pen box, some sort of apoplectic scene taking hold of the beaten and tired plastic. Of which, black pen was scrawled on the inside, crude words littering the once innocent white box, and a large, hairy, monolithic penis in black marker pen on the side.
Since seeing the box, and the, very nearly almost, charming gray jiz that had almost splattered against her board, she had decided to buy and use her own pens. If that was all the school had to offer, she didn't want to partake in the wasteland that was schools pens. As her pen quite satisfyingly swished across the board, her mind wandered again.
-that was how she ended up in this predicament. Cassidy had decided to not to use her powers and what a stupid decision that had turned out to be. Annoyed, she slashed at the board in violent strokes- I had only wanted to know the human without the influence of my powers, she thought mockingly. Shutting it off when she touched him turned out to be one of the biggest, baddest mistakes of her entire life. But what baffled even her was that after they had got together, she never thought to try it- such trust from an Angel into a Human was unheard of. If only she hadn't been so goddamned stupid. Plus, her powers came in handy. How could she not want to use them?
