It felt like hours, but was probably only minutes later, that she burst through the front doors of the Lab. A while back, razor sharp blades of glass had littered the floor and now her feet were lacerated, ripped and torn. But still, she pushed and pushed herself to move and now, as the air around her cleared with the cloying scent of pain, she felt it was worth it. Blood dripped against the dirt, and she breathed and rolled her shoulders. The tightness that had been there prior, her arms already healing. Hissing, she bent down to check her feet. They too were fast healing over the glass, pulling the shards deeper into her body and cutting her from the inside.

Gingerly, she placed her feet back down on the ground and tried to move although her limbs felt fast asleep. She rubbed at her throat, the scream had almost ruined her vocal cords but her healing was acting fast on her body. Dimly, she was glad that they hadn't managed to come up with a serum that stopped her from healing- and started to move in earnest. Legs burning, she ran and was taken back to the first time she escaped. Arms pumping, she couldn't find it in her to feel the exhilaration she had once felt- only feeling a faint and ominous feeling. Swallowing, she pushed herself harder- resting against trees as she passed them. Soon, she was panting, sweat slicking her body while her palms shook. She was scared, that much was obvious. But, she thought with a determined look- looking back at the at facility, she needed to be calm.

Pausing at a small sound, she watched with distant horror as the Laboratory seemed to burst into action. Lights flashed against the dark sky, the ground rumbling as the moon watched on. Again, she swallowed and was consumed by memories past. Throwing herself to the ground, she knew that she hadn't covered enough ground. Knew it in her very bones that if someone didn't come, right know, she would be caught. Curling into a small ball, she pressed herself against a tree and almost laughed. What a cyclical pattern her life was. Escape from the cloying oppressiveness of heaven to the relative safety of the humans, fall in love, get kidnapped, escape again. Wash and repeat, she thought miserably.

A rustle to the left of her startled her from her thoughts, and she pressed herself against the tree. Still, she was unable to defend herself. Tiredness hung deep and heavy in her bones, and she couldn't move even if she wanted to. Closing her eyes briefly, she jolted again as the rustle was closer. Yet, she still couldn't find it in her body to care.

All hope was gone because she knew that she couldn't risk it, hope made her do stupid things- like fall in love with people she couldn't have.

Almost, she expected it to be the foxes like the last time she was here- their intelligent eyes watching her prone form but she wasn't surprised when Ethan materialized from the shadows. Expression gleeful, she watched as he squatted next to her- his fingers tangling in her hair. Wrenching his fist, she let a hiss leave her mouth and weakly tried to pull away from him- only succeeding in pulling at her hair more.

"How did ya' do tha'?" Laughingly, he seemed more excited than angry at her escape attempt and it made fear curl deep in her belly. Darkly, his expression flickered and she swallowed.

"Answer me." Jerkily, she gestured to her throat and grunted at him. Cocking his head to the side, his eyes brightened.

"You cannie speak?" Nodding, she winced as hot pain washed over her head. Throwing his head back, she watched his adams apple bob- watched as he laughed. She thought about ripping his throat out.

"Oh this is priceless, absolutely brilliant. Ya' cannie even move, can ya'?" Excitedly, his eyes trailed over her form and zeroed in on her shallow breathing.

"Are ya afraid, Cass?" His eyes darkened as he teasingly rolled his 'r's, and he leaned closer- manic eyes connecting with her fearful ones. "'Cause ya' fuckin' should be."
