"Okay, he really shouldn't wear those sneakers with that shirt. He obviously doesn't have a very good taste in the new style today." My best friend, Matt stated, while staring at the boy across from us in slight disgust.
I reach over the table to playfully hit him on the arm, a giggle leaving my lips.
"Be nice." I tell him in a motherly tone, pointing my finger at him.
He shrugs while pulling his shoulder length hair into a quick, but neat bun. "The truth hurts, sweetheart and you must face some cruel opinions in this awful world."
I couldn't help, but laugh even harder, our table getting a few glares from other costumers in the coffee shop.
"How are you and Tommy?" Matt questions, taking a sip from his hot chocolate.
"We're doing pretty well actually. Our two year anniversary is coming up tomorrow and I still have no idea what to get him because he has every single thing that I spot in the store." I explain, letting an exhausted sigh fall from my lips.
"Sex! Its something every man wants from his significant other." He said, sending me his famous 'obviously' look.
I throw my head back in laughter. "I'm not doing that, I actually want it to be something special from my heart. So special to where it doesn't have us end being nude for once."
"Then sing or dance for him, you're really good at both of those, especially painting!" He singsonged, while standing up from his chair.
"You have a good point, mister." I tease, following behind him as we walk out the warm coffee shop. The winter air then hits me, sending goosebumps all over the skin on my exposed arms.
"I would come over, but I have a date tonight with a hottie." Matt kisses my cheek and we both go our separate ways.
A beeping sound echoes from my car signaling that it unlocked once I pressed the button. I hop in the car, driving home ready to see Tom, hoping he'll give me some hints on he has planned for us tomorrow.
Arriving at our condo big enough for the two of us, I get out the car, making sure it's locked behind me and I speed walk into home.
"I'm back!" I call out once I walk inside.
My legs take me into the living room where the television played on a loud volume. Tom's eyes are fixated on one of his shows, not even bothering to greet me with a kiss and hug like he usually does.
"Hey there." I smile, snuggling on his chest and I notice that he sort of tenses up a bit, but I just ignore it. "How was your day?"
Instead of answering, he gives me shrug and continues to watch the tv. I lift my head from his shoulder, sitting up straight, my eyes studying the features on his face.
"Okay babe," I begin, clicking my tongue at the roof of my mouth. "Did I do something?"
A bitter chuckle escapes from his mouth, "No. Why would there be anything wrong?"
I furrow my eyebrows together, looking at Tom confused with his sudden change of attitude compared to the one from this morning. Running a hand through my hair, a sigh comes from me and I can sense that he's lying to me.
"Why are you being sarcastic with me? You were literally all rainbows and sunshines earlier before I went out." I sass, crossing my arms over my chest.
Tom stands up from his spot walking into the back of the condo and into our shared bedroom. I follow right behind him, hot on his heels.
"Thomas, what the hell is wrong? Talk to me!" I command, my voice raising.
"Alright, you want me to talk...why the fuck didn't you tell me you and Matt were hanging out today?" I question, raising his voice at me too.
I bite my lip, a low laugh slipping from my mouth. "This what you're fussing about? I seriously told you that you have nothing to worry about with anything happening between us. We've been best friends since middle school and that's all we will ever stay as. Tom, I love you, can't you see that?"
He scoffs, "Not when you're constantly hanging around that jackass."
"Don't call him that!" I gasp, folding my arms over my chest.
"There you go defending him." He rolls his eyes. "Why don't you just go date him? You know, I'd be happy to be alone for our two year anniversary tomorrow."
"I would, but if you weren't too blind then you would've notice that he likes dick just like me, Tom." Tears slide down my cheeks once I say that.
He is too shellshocked to even respond as he stands in front of me with his mouth wide open, giving access for flies to go down his throat. Without thinking, I begin to push him with all the little strength I have in me until he is out of the bedroom.
"Wait Y/N, I just assumed-"
"Yeah well start asking questions before you begin to assume that I'm cheating on you, asshole." I slam the door on his face.
Turning away from the door, I look at my reflection in the body length mirror. My eyes were red and puffy, I couldn't stand to see this side of myself because it wasn't my normal personality: enthusiastic and loving.
"Of course, this would occur a day before your two year anniversary. Way to go, Y/N." I whisper to myself before going to lay down on the blanket covered, comfy mattress.
