"Hello? Hellooo? Someone here?"
They heard a loud 'bonk' and someone cursing with the four-letter word.
"It's damn dark here, Merlin!"
Severus looked up when he heard the voice who seemed to come from the hall behind the painting of the crown.
Hermione just stared at her wand.
There was somebody out there and it was not one of them. Severus stood up and walked to the painting.
Hermione still stared at her wand.
He pressed his ear against it and listened intently. It was the voice of a boy, a student. "Where the bloody hell am I?" the voice muttered to no one in particular.
Hermione's head shot up. "Ron," She whispered.
Severus turned his head to her. "Weasley?" He whisper-yelled. "What's he doing here?"
Hermione shrugged. She looked hopeless.
Severus frowned, but turned back to the painting. "Did you tell anyone about this room?" he asked in a dangerous tone.
"No!" she said firmly.
"Shhh shhh-sh!" He put a finger on his lips, but Ron still heard them.
"Hello? Where are you?"
"Well done," Severus whispered. "He heard us."
Hermione glared at him. Severus narrowed his eyes. "I don't want to see that kind of behavior, Miss Granger."
Hermione raised her left eyebrow. "Oh, don't you dare 'Miss Granger' me," she spat.
"Heelllo-oo? I know you're there," Ron's voice echoed through the chamber.
"Stay here." With one last look at her, Severus pulled open the painting and stepped through it. He quickly closed it and looked through the hall.
It was dark indeed: the few candles at the walls didn't burn. "Lumos," he mumbled.
"Hello?" Ron's voice sounded far away.
"Idiot," Severus muttered. "He's only walking further away from the exit."
He heard him stop walking. "Who's there?"
Severus rolled his eyes. "Follow. My. Voice." he said loud. He heard Weasel sigh happily and started walking.
"This way." Severus kept saying some random words while he walked through the corridor, heading to the exit. (Imagine: Snape saying thinks like 'poop' 'tree' 'awkward' 'dunderhead' etc😂)
He reached the stairs and waited for the redhead to arrive. Ron's red hair doomed up first, then his ugly freckled head and the rest of his body.
His expression of relief that he had found his way out of this place turned into an expression of disgust when he saw his Potions Master. "Snape?" he asked shocked.
Severus rolled his eyes. "I'm glad to hear that you're eyes still work. Now, what are you doing here, in a deserted corridor, on your own, and after curfew?' he hissed.
Ron's face was blank as he was at a loss for words. Severus smirked. "I see. Twenty points fr-"
"I was searching Alice."
Severus shut his mouth and stared at the young ginger in front of him. He continued talking, because Severus hadn't said anything in the passed time. "She told us - Harry and me - that she was going to the library, but when I came there she wasn't there, and then I..just. kinda got lost. She missed dinner, you know."
Weasley suddenly frowned and pointed one of his pale, freckled fingers at him. "You too, now I think about it."
Just at the moment Severus opened his mouth to take even more points from Gryffindor, Weasley's frown turned into a smile. "Hermion-!" he exclaimed and then immediately started to cough, trying to cover up his fault.
Severus turned around with the speed of light and saw Hermione as Alice Brown coming from the opposite way he came from: from the stairs.
How the hell did she come there?
And why? He had told her that she had to stay where she was!
She looked at him. "Good evening, professor." He gave her a stiff nod, but clamped his fists behind his back.
"Hey, Ron. What are you doing here?"
Severus tried his best to not roll his eyes.
"I was searching for you! Harry too, by the way, bu' he's somewhere else in the castle. Where were you? Harry and I were so worried! We even considered that you were kidnapped by a-aliens or I don't know what the word was -Harry came up with that. He said it are weird creatures in the universe?"
He shrugged. "Meh, it doesn't matter. What matters is that you're back!"
Severus looked at Weasley. That boy really had a problem.
Hermione looked normal. He didn't understand how you ever could get used to Dunderhead and his dumb stories, but that wasn't important right now. What was important was the look on Weasley's face; he looked at Hermione like she was the most beautiful creature on the world -she was - but Severus didn't like that Ron looked at her that way.
He felt something in his chest what he hadn't felt in a long time.
Why was he jealous?
All Weasel's fault - though he had no real reason for that. But he was friends with Hermione -aaarghhhh! Weasley had to shut up right now!
"Soo..you're coming with me, Ally?"
Hermione slightly wrinkled her nose at Ron's new nickname for her.
Severus had to suppress a smirk. Hermione stole a glance at Severus, who forced himself to give a short nod.
"Uhh..yes." She flashed Severus a small smile. "Goodbye, professor."
Oh, that tone in her voice - it made him want to kick the wall! It was part of her act; she had to act like she didn't give a shit about school and rules.
Tsk.
"Hmm." He turned and walked down the stairs.
He deserved a warm bottle of Firewhisky.
