When he walked up the stairs, he wondered if Hermione would be there. It was okay she used his room, but wouldn't it be a bit uncomfortable?

No. They were friends. He had just saved her. Nothing more then that. That was the only thing he had done in his life: save people. That was something to be proud of, but Severus actually found it quite unnerving.

He reached the painting with the crown and pushed on the table. The door opened and he stepped in. And yes, Hermione was there. She was reading a book on one of the couches. She smiled. "Hello Severus." She said without looking up from her book.

How did she knew he was there? He hadn't made a sound!

"Hello." He greeted when he sat down next to her.

She looked at him. She seemed happy to see him. How could anyone be happy to see him?

"How was your day?" He asked her.

She looked away. "Normal."

What was she hiding?

"You didn't act normal at Potions. Now tell me what's wrong." He commanded. She looked back at him, red in the face. "Fine! The smell of my Amortentia has changed. Happy?"

Severus raised his eyebrow. Amortentia smells usually didn't change. Of course it did change sometimes, but that happened almost never... "Interesting.." He mumbled.

"What? Why? Does that mean something?" Hermione bombarded him with questions in such a hurry he didn't quite catch it. All of her hiding was gone now and she looked rather stressed.

Severus smirked. "Our little know-it-all doesn't know something?"

"Oh stop it!"

Severus's smirk grew bigger. "You still want to know, right?"

Hermione seemed to have a discussion with herself. It was funny, seeing her in this position.

"Oh fine!" She burst out. "Tell me!"

Severus tried to hide his smile, which was hard, but possible.

"The smell of your Amortentia does only change when you've found the person you care so much about, the pain would be too intense if you lose him or her. Short said, you've find your soulmate, Hermione."

Hermione stared at him in shock. "My-I... I have a soulmate? Aren't soulmates supposed to be in love with each other? As far as I know, I'm not in love."

She shivered.

"Soulmates can be anyone, it's not important that you have a soulmate you're in love with. However that's possible. Sometimes soulmates can feel it if the other is in trouble, but that's very rare. Soulmates.. they make you complete and happy. They bring out the best of you. If you're feeling bad, your soulmate can fix it. And vise versa. They perfectly complement each other."

Hermione didn't know what to say about that.

"I think you can better just continue reading." Hermione blinked. "Yeah. Yeah, I'll do that." She picked up her book again and continued reading, however still a bit distracted.

Severus looked around. The last time he had been here was ... uh...

No idea.

Long ago.

Over the years he had just forgot about the room.

Stupid brain cells.

Severus walked to a bookcase and picked his favorite book. He blew off the dust and sat down again. He started reading.

For the next few hours he and Hermione silently read. Around that time Severus looked at his watch. It was early, but he had a lot of work to do. He looked over to Hermione. She was completely focused on her book and she seemed to have forgot everything around her.

He smiled. She didn't even notice. "Hermione." He whispered.

Hermione jumped. She looked as a reindeer caught in the light. Severus smirked. "I have to go." He stood up.

"Oh. Uhm..Will you come back?" She asked.

"I think not. I still have to grade a lot of horrible potions from students who are too stupid to see the difference between their buts and their heads."

Hermione laughed. "If you change your mind and decide to visit me, know I will be here."

Severus nodded and left the room. After he had judged everything he would straight go to bed.

His bed. Oooh that sounded good.
