The rest of the week went by in a blur. School was out and Jack refused to let me go out of town with Violet for the weekend. He said and I quote "It's bad for you to be away for so long especially when you have summer reading". We literally got out of school yesterday. Dean had texted me asking me to meet him at the library. It was finally happening we would hopefully kill the Wendigos.

Currently I was getting ready to meet Dean at the library. It was almost sunset and we had to get to the woods and find their den all before midnight, if not we would most likely get killed.

Dean had told me to pack light but make sure I had food, water, and a flashlight. We had no clue how long we would be out for so we both lied and said we were staying over at a friends house for the night.

Finishing up packing my bag I slid on my shoes. I took some extra time to say goodbye to Mom and Jack knowing if I messed up I would never see them again.

"Bye Jack, I love you." I said hugging him.

"What's up with you hugging me? You never do this." Jack questions.

"Can't I just show my brother I love him before I leave? Jezze." I said rolling my eyes.

Walking down the street I started thinking too much again. What would Violet and Luna think of me doing this? They always thought of me as the boring girl who always follows the rules and look at me now, running off to go burn some weird ass monsters alive.

The town was old and in need of repairs. The sidewalk was uneven and tree roots made it hard not to trip. The pavement was crumbling beneath my feet as I walked reminding me of the pebbles in my mothers garden I played in as a child.

That was before all of these problems. She was happy and always had a smile on her face. But when dad died she changed. Instead of a smile it was a frown. She no longer went into the garden, it was now shriveled up plants and dead leafs. Jack and I never had the time or will to tend to it.

The voices of people pulled me out of my thoughts. I had walked all the way to the library with even realizing it.

Pushing open the doors the smell of old books and perfume greeted me. I looked around for Dean spotting him in the hallway leading to the back rooms.

I walked over to him. "Hey... I'm ready. I got everything you told me to bring."

"Good, I'm ready too I just need to get something come with me?" He asked.

"Sure." I say following him into the many back rooms.

We end up in a conference type room without any windows. He turns looking at me for a few moments.

Then he moves closer. I know what's happening. Before I know it our lips are connected. He puts one hand on my cheek and the other on my waist. It seem forever but it's only a few seconds that have passed. He pulls back still holding me.

"I don't know what's going to happen tonight but I just want you to know that I like you a lot, and that I'll do anything to protect you." He says looking in to my eyes.

"I like you a lot too." I say laughing lightly. "To be honest I'm pretty freaked out about what's going to happen too but we will be okay. Everything will be okay."
