How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters

Spring Break was finally here only two more days until all of the student body was out of school doing God knows what. My plans were to sit around the house and maybe just maybe get Jack to drive out into the country where our old house was.

"Mary! I understand break is almost here but please pay attention and stop looking out the window. Now what is the answer to number twenty-six." The teacher asks.

"I'm sorry. The answer is twenty and five tenths if you keep it in decimal form. In fraction form it would be twenty and a half." I replied.

It was the last period of the day, Dean was fricking around with his friends in the back of class. He had instantly made friends with Benny, Steve and Kevin. They were known to cause trouble. Kevin once put itching powder in the principal's underwear.

The teacher was desperately trying to keep the class under control. So far five detention slips were handed out. Two to the couple making out in the corner and another three to the boys behind me. Kevin being a very smart despite his antics was liked by teachers so he was spared.

"Class dismissed. Please remember to have the packet completed over break." Mr. Durham states. An audible groan erupts from the whole class as everyone gets up to leave.

"Hey Mary!" Dean calls out from behind me. I stop to let him catch up to me. "Do you want to go see a movie tomorrow? I heard there is a really good one that just came out." He ask scratching the back of his neck.

"Are you asking me out Winchester?" I ask even though I already know the answer.

"Umm...yeah I mean if that's okay with you." Dean says blushing.

"I would like it very much." I reply. "My friends are waiting for me so I should get going. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Okay. I'll come get you around five." Dean says.

"He asked you out!" Luna exclaims. "What did you say?"

"I said I would go out with him but that doesn't mean anything. He probably just likes me as a friend or he feels sorry for me." I say sadly.

"Nonsense he probably thinks you are an amazing girl." Luna says shaking my shoulders.

"I doubt it he has girls throwing themselves at him. He could date anyone but asked me out." I say starting to wonder if this was all just a cruel joke.

"Let's go to the mall and get you something to wear!" Luna exclaims.

"Why can't I just wear jeans and a shirt?" I ask.

"You want him to like you right? If so you need to look presentable. Not that you don't everyday but..." Luna babbles.

"Fine but I get to wear converse with whatever you pick out." I say hoping to make a deal with her.

"Fine." Luna says rolling her eyes.

Six hours later and so far she has made me get a maroon dress. She bought so much I don't even remember.  She also took me to get my nails done. Her exact words were something along the lines of  "you need to make him like you. If he doesn't yet that is".

"By Mary! Kick some ass on that date why don't ya!" Luna calls from her car siting in my driveway.
