Luke Hemmings

When i got up the next morning I had realised that I was extremely late to work and my boss was going to murder me. Not literally but... wait no probably literally.

I quickly got up and hurried to get ready, forgetting to make myself coffee before i bolted out the door. There was no way I would make it without my coffee either or else I'd become as asshole.

I quickly stopped on the way and once at work all eyes turned to me.

"Why do you look so rushed?" Emma said from the cubical next to me.

"I'm late," I looked at the clock on my desk and then realised, "I'm not late, what the hell."

"You're like half an hour early." She laughed at me and I groaned putting my head on my desk.

"I swear I read a different time on my clock at home," I let out a deep breath and then started to drink my coffee so the worst wouldn't come out of me.

I couldn't believe that I did that to my self.

I mean i guess on a positive note my boss won't be angry with me, and i have no chance of losing my job because of it.

At the end of my shift i checked my phone and noticed the tiny brunette has messaged me

From: Ashton
i'm sorry about the other night )-: we need to talk soon

From: Luke
yeah like rn, meet me where we had that dinner in 20 minutes

I sighed and gathered my belongings before heading out the doors of the office building.

Once in the car I put my head on the steering wheel and let out probably my thousandth groan of the day.

Arzaylea was pissed that I have been acting weird these past couple days and ended up going to stay with her mom for a while since stress wasn't good for the baby.

Only thing that sucked being home alone was the fact that I couldn't cook so I have been eating pretty horribly these past couple days. Oh well, not like that matters anyways.

When I finally made it to the restaurant I saw the small boy waiting outside twiddling with his phone and biting on his finger nails.

"Luke you're here," He smiled a little and before I could reply quickly pulled me into the restaurant and to a table, "Now i need to explain what happened the other night. I know Arzaylea from just around, i've seen her at bars and clubs a lot and she defiantly wants to be known."

"Like recently?"

"For the past couple years yeah but i mainly see her with her girl's and stuff," He said trying to reassure me.

"Yeah, she goes out a lot with them and leaves me at home but that's fine at least i know where she's at. But why did you freak out so badly when you found out."

"I don't know it was just weird i guess," He said nervously and messed with his fingers, "Uhm anyways, i thought i could make it up to you now? And we can learn more about each other since i'm carrying your baby."

"Uh, sure i guess so."

"What do you do for a living," He asked and started eating the chips and salsa that was given to us.

"I work in a small office for an airplane company at the moment, i create the budget for our projects. I'm trying to become a pilot though. What about you?"

"That's so cool but i'm a Pediatrician Nurse," He smiled, "Scrubs are so comfortable to work in."

"You're a nurse? I thought girls were suppose to be the nurses? And men were suppose to be the doctors?"

"That's sexist Luke," He bit the corner of his lip, "Women can do what men do and men can do what women do."

"I didn't mean to offend you I just thought that like... nevermind i'm just going to dig a deeper hole for my self."

He just nodded and we kept going on about our lives.

I found out that he hasn't been in a relationship since his Sophomore year of high school and he's only 25. The only reason he was able to become a nurse so early was because of how far ahead he got in his classes. He's from Australia but he doesn't remember it much since he moved when he was 3 since they were getting away from his father.

I also found out that he's a really sweet boy and he's not the creep that I thought he was. Endless this is all an act or something. But he seems like a genuinely nice human being.

"Maybe you want to come over? We can talk more there since I think someone is waiting for this table."

He nodded and after paying the bill followed me to my apartment. When we walked in I saw Arzaylea had finally returned to my surprise.

"Hey ba- who is this." She saw Ashton standing behind me.

"Just a co-worker that i invited over so we could chat about work stuff." I lied and Ashton nodded along with me.

"Oh okay, i'll leave you two be then." She gave me a quick kiss on the lips before leaving the room.

"Thank you for going along with that," I said to Ashton and he sat on a barstool.

"No problem, I didn't think she'd want to know I was carrying your baby too." He laughed a little.

"If she comes in just go along with what i'm saying so she doesn't know i lied about you."

He nodded his head and we continued talking about ourselves.

Hours passed and I realised it was getting late.

"I think i should head home now." The brunette rubbed his eyes and yawned.

"You could stay if you wanted, we have a couch you can sleep on."

"No, no, i don't want to intrude plus i need to get home." He said softly, "Thank you for the offer though."

He walked towards the door and I followed him so i could lock it behind him.

But right before he was about to say goodbye he gave me a hug which caught me by surprise but i hugged him back.

"See you soon Lu."

"See you soon too Ashton."
