Kelsey huffed as she realized that madam Pomfrey's orders meant she wasn't able to try out for Quidditch this year. Karkat tried to console her, but found she was just to miserable to even eat her doughnut. But there was another matter that wouldn't allow her to remain silent. "I don't want you guys coming with me on full moons."
The boys stopped eating. Kas put down his spoon of cereal, looking over at her. "What did you say?"
"I don't want you guys coming with me on full moons." She yawned, poking the raspberry jelly doughnut on her plate with a fork. "I almost hurt you guys last night."
"Almost." Jackson repeated. "Kelsey, the whole reason we did this was for you. I am now a bloody unicorn, because I wanted to help you. We endured a month of no good tasting food, because we wanted to help you." Kelsey tried to cut in but Jackson silenced her with a look. "You do not get a say in this. We are going with you and that is final."
Silence. "Merlin Jackie. Are you sure you aren't a Hufflepuff?" Kelsey laughed humorlessly, smiling sadly at her doughnuts.
Jackson and the boys looked a bit taken aback and stared at her worriedly. "Pretty sure." He replied looking at his tie and robes.
"Well I'm going to go speak to Dumbledore. I will see you in class." Kelsey said to them waving.
Arthur had woken up confused. He had put on his clothes, in the same order as usual, changing his pants, then his shirt, then putting on his shoes and socks. Dawning his robes he walked to breakfast slowly. He was so deep in thought about his dream that he didn't realize he had ran into someone. "Sorry Arty. I must be pretty tired." A voice chuckled, sounding half asleep and humorless.
Arthur looked down to see a cut up, bruised, tired looking Kelsey smiling at him. "You okay?"
He nodded and frowned at the scratches on her nose. "What're those from?" He pointed to them, almost touching them.
"Sorry Arty, can't say." She replied, looking a bit torn. She shifted her weight from left to right. "I'll see you later. I've got to go see Professor Dumbledore." She walked past him. He blinked and quickly grabbed her forearm.
"How do you do that?" He whispered, looking her dead in the eyes. She looked into his sliver blue eyes, a common Malfoy trait, torn once again over someone she barely knew.
"It comes naturally, like breathing." Kelsey replied, not looking away. "I haven't had my own dream before, Arty. What's it like?" She whispered back.
He stared at her eyes, which were changing rapidly. "I dunno." He replied, letting her arm go. "Do you know how to make an aura seeing potion?" She gave him a look that showed her many emotions inside of her head but nodded.
"I'll let you know when I finish my batch." She said waving and walking away. He waved back and continued walking to breakfast, lost in thought yet again. Arthur found himself falling backwards after bumping into someone.
"Sorry." He mumbled, looking up to see it was Kaleab. Kaspien and Jackson also appeared almost a second later.
"Sorry Malfoy. Did you see which way Kelsey went?" Kaleab replied, his gaze looking angry almost. Arthur nodded and pointed the way he came from.
"She said she was going to see the headmaster." He said. "Why did she have scratches and bruises all over her face?"
The three boys tensed, Jackson looking away. "None of your concern." Kaspien replied
Arthur frowned at them. "Did she get in another fight? Who was it?" He asked, voice raising a bit towards the end.
"No. It wasn't a fight." Jackson said nervously. "Please just drop it." Arthur however, being the stubborn wizard he is, pressed on.
"What happened then? She di-" he was interrupted my an arm pinning him up against the wall.
"Malfoy I swear on Merlin's beard, that if you don't drop it I will hex you into oblivion." Kaleab growled. Jackson and Kas were trying to pull him off of the white haired boy, with no avail. "She will tell you when she knows she can trust you. You have only known her for a few days. So listen to us and drop it!" He released him, Arthur stumbling a bit.
"Fine. I'll see you around Kaleab." Arthur replied his tone edged with acid that would eat away at your very soul.
Kelsey had already made it to Dumbledore's office, muttering the names of different sweets until the statue revealed a stairway. She climbed it at a steady pace, knocking on it in a rhythm that would let Dumbledore know it was her. "Come in."
She stepped in and took a seat across from the old wizard, who smiled at her brightly. "How are you this morning?" She gave him a look which made the damn fool chuckle. "I see. Candy?" He offered, showing her a bowl. She nodded and took one. "I'd imagine the life of a Zen'in would be challenging, especially one so young."
"Don't forget one suffering from lythrocampy as well." She mumbled. "I rebuilt the wall in Harry's mind. Gave it an upgrade too." Dumbledore nodded.
"I'm assuming Mr. Malfoy knows about this as well?" He asked eyes twinkling. Now most people would he surprised at how the old man knew such things, but being a seer like being and also knowing the old man for such a long time, she was surprised when Dumbledore didn't know about something.
"Yup. I let him guess." She nodded, unwrapping the sweet and popping it into her mouth. "I had a dream recently." She said fiddling with the wrapper. Dumbledore raised a silvery eyebrow at her.
"A dream?" Kelsey nodded.
"Yes. Like the dreams that everyone else has." She replied. "It happened when I was in the hospital wing. With Arthur."
He nodded. "That's interesting. It's the first time you've had a dream since you first became a metamorphmangus. [Usually metamorphmangi start being able to change hair their appearance between their birth to about three.] And what do you think caused it?"
"He was holding my hand." She looked at the hand that held his, as if it would explain it to her. "He also was able to stop the pain. The pain that literally caused me to collapse, faded away as soon as he picked me up, and returned when he let me go." She frowned at the hand when it didn't tell her why.
"Interesting. Did you confide in him? Or in anyone, besides me?" Kelsey shook her head. They stayed quiet for a bit.
"I don't think that the boys are happy with me."
"Oh?" The head master gave her a surprised look. She nodded.
"I told them I didn't want them to come to the shack with me on full moons. I almost hurt them the last time and I don't want this to happen again." Kelsey shrugged, looking through the spectacles of the headmaster, into his eyes. "I can't be the reason one of them gets hurt."
"You realize that you four beat the previous record. All four of you are now the youngest animagi in listed in the ministry of magic. I'd imagine, however, that the ministry has no idea that this took place?" Dumbledore asked. Kelsey shook her head and looked at Faux [how the bloody hell do you spell it?]
"No idea. And I just looked it up with out any help from anyone. Well I did go into Professor McGonnagall's memories to find it, but that's slightly different." Kelsey paused. "How many Professors know about me being a Zen'in?"
"Professor McGonnagall, Professor Sprout, myself and one other." Dumbledore said. Kelsey frowned at this.
"And the one other is?" She asked, fully awake and back in badger mode.
"Severus Snape."
