After an awkward dinner, Arthur pulled aside his mother. "Mum I need to tell you something."
"Yes?" She said looking at him.
"Kelsey kissed me. On the lips. Which is causes the bond to take full effect." Arthur said in short bursts making Victoria's eyes widen. She gaped at him.
"It'll start tonight. I'll go tell Remus that you'll be sleeping here. And contact Dumbledore." She said giving him a kiss on the cheek. He smiled and nodded wringing his hands.
'Kelsey didn't know that's what would happen when she kissed me.' He thought to himself pacing. Kelsey watched in amusement as Arthur paced back and forth with a confused look that looks like that of a niffler that's been deprived of gold.
"You look like a sad niffler." She chuckled making him jump. "Why are you pacing?"
"No reason." Arthur said harshly. Kelsey frowned.
"Do you forget that if you were anyone else, I would have just read your mind instead of respecting your privacy." Kelsey said calmly.
"Like you aren't going to do that anyway." Arthur said. He frowned inwardly, not knowing why he was reacting that way. Kelsey's eyes flashed a dark blue before turning maroon.
"I'm sorry for whatever I did to bring this about, but I would never just spontaneously read your mind. I trust you more than that." Kelsey said brushing past him and going outside. Her coat was still hanging up and her wand was on the table.
Arthur sighed, failing to notice both of these things. 'Kelsey?' No response was given.
Remus and his mother walked out of the room chatting up a storm. Well mostly Victoria.
"Arthur are you okay?" Remus asked seeing the boy's face.
"I got mad at Kelsey. She got mad at me. She went outside." Arthur said monotonously.
"She left her coat and wand. She'll be back soon." Victoria said gesturing to the discarded objects. Arthur and Remus frowned at the items.
"She's too stubborn for that. She'll wait for him to apologize or figure out that it's too cold and grab her coat and wand before going to the Goodman's or the Micheals."
Kelsey was currently sitting in a tree looking at the stars. Naming them. Just like she used to do with Sirius and her parents.
She was deciding what to do next as she repeated her nightly ritual.
She started walking. And when she was Dawn, she padded along slowly, noting that it was warmer.
She stopped in front of a certain abandoned house and padded into it. Shaking the snow off her fur, she looked at the interior.
The once vibrant red carpet was under a layer of dirt making it a dark maroon like shade. The frames that had been on the hearth of the stone fireplace were tarnished and some broken.
She found herself back in her regular form and she went to go pick up the pictures. She brushed off the dust on the glass and smiled at the people in the picture.
Placing it down, she walked through an entry way and looked at the ruined kitchen. The cabinets were destroyed and the stove was missing burners and the oven's glass was broken.she stepped around the glass and touched the blast mark on a wall.
She continued on into the dining room noting the burn mark on the floor and the splintered wood table that used to rest in the dining room.
She left those and walked to the upstairs rooms. Kelsey pushed open the door to reveal her parents room. She saw that the bed was messed up and the dresser was knocked over.
Kelsey sighed and put the dresser back in its place. She opened the closet, looking at her mother and father's clothes. She took down a black sweater of her mother's and put it on, pulling on her fathers old cloak over it. It was a gorgeous old fashioned hooded cloak and would change to any color the wearer decided.
She walked out of the room wearing the cloak and sweater with pride, looking like a shadow. Pushing open the restroom she noted that it was the nicest room she had seen so far.
Chuckling humorlessly, she pressed on opening the last door. A periwinkle colored room with a Sakura tree painted on the wall with a blossom colored ceiling that really moved with the wind outside. Her bed was a mess but it was still intact. What startled her and made her want to throw up was the blood on the floor closest to the window. She ignored the feeling in her stomach and went to her dresser instead.
Her dresser revealed really tiny kimonos and a tiny dress from her fathers side of the family that reminded everyone who's family she was in. Kelsey looking at the bloodied floor and felt a pang of hurt in her heart. She trudged back to her parents room and curled up in their bed under the slightly dusty covers. She closed her eyes and slept.
Arthur was still up when the clock chimed to let him know it was midnight. Remus watched the boy sit there looking worried and decided to make him rest.
"Arthur you need to go to sleep. She'll be back in the morning. She probably decided to suck it up and go to one of the houses without her stuff." Remus said, looking at the door. Arthur nodded and sighed. "Come on. You can sleep in her room."
The first thing Arthur noticed about the room was the simplicity. She had painted a mural of a tree in her room but it simply had a bed, a dresser, and a desk. Her owl was perched on a peg near the window munching on a mouse. There was a can near the peg that upon further investigation, had bones in it from rats and mice.
It was quite plain. Remus seemed to notice Arthur's noticing of the noticeable plainness. "She used to spend full moons in here. She used to have a stuffed dragon on her bed, but she locks it up so that it doesn't get destroyed."
"She won't have to do that anymore, right?" Arthur asked sitting on the bed.
"Hopefully she won't." Remus looked at the window that Kelsey spent so much time looking out of. "Goodnight. Your mother went home a little while ago."
"I know. Thank you and goodnight." Arthur responded as Remus smiled and closed the door on his way out.
