"So what about school then?" She asked.
"Eh, I didn't like it but my mom always pushed me to get my grades up. Since we struggled so much, if I got the best grades, that meant all these different opportunities." I answered. "I liked learning, I just hated the way we were taught, you know?"
"Yeah, I get it. I can't even stand some of my teachers and I don't know how I'll be able to make it until June." Amelia slumps her shoulders a bit and her expression changes. "My sister wants me to be all academic and have good grades, so I'll be able to maybe get a few scholarships." We sit facing each other with our legs crossed in front of us, and we've been sitting here for the past fifteen minutes.
"What do you wanna do when you graduate?"
She simply laughs at this but answers still." Well, that doesn't really matter since Julia already has everything planned out for me. Hopefully if I do get the scholarships, maybe they'll be to New York, maybe Stanford or Princeton. From there she wants me to major in business and economics." She sighs and moves her arms back and looks up to the sky. "She's even got Peter trying to help me." She looks to the side and I barely understand what she says next and just stare at the way her eyes brighten as the sun hovers over and her hair falls all the way down her shoulders and back. "What about you?" Is the next thing I hear and I come back to meet her eyes.
"What? " I ask but she responds but chuckling. "Sorry."
"I asked, what do you wanna do? Cuz I'm sure you must want to do something other than work on the farm right? If you'd like, maybe we can get Peter to help you too. He knows people in New York that work on Wall Street." I know she probably meant that in the most sincere way, but some how that didn't get to me right.
"I don't know. I have a lot going on Amelia, finding a job that pays well and is much more suitable isn't really something I'm really worrying about because I have plenty of other things on my plate, and I don't only work on this farm. I have a lot of other places that I work at, so I'm fine." I say sharper than intended.
"Come on, I didn't mean it like that. I just, thought that maybe you had some sort of plan for the future..."
"Oh, please, sorry we're not all like you alright? Not all of us have people planning out where we're gonna end up."
"Harry, that's not what I meant. You're taking this to some other level and thinking the wrong way about it." I stand up and she follows when I start walking away. She soon speeds up and reaches over to my shoulder. "Hey!"
"I think we should just go."
"No, you're upset aren't you? I'm sorry, okay? I didn't mean it that way and didn't try to offend you."
"Okay so c'mon let's go, it's getting late."
Amelia's P.O.V
Clearly it's not getting late since it's probably only almost four o'clock, but I still want to leave anyways. The car rides quiet and I don't want to say anything because that would probably be the smart thing to do, but I still want to say something. Anything I say could probably end up to us just arguing or him being way more offended. Come to think of it, this is probably the first time we've ever argued and I have never seen Harry act this way before.
We finally get to my house and I look over and look back at him although he clearly looks lost in his thoughts. "Thanks." I say hoping I'll get a respond; which I don't. "Bye Harry."
Before I open the door I watch him quickly pull out and drive away and he still looked straight ahead. I hadn't even realized there was another car in the drive way and quickly go inside to find out why.
