Riley's little get together yesterday was something I didn't really expect. I knew the day I met Harry and when he told me his name, he was the one James had been talking about, but I didn't think I'd see him again that quick. Even when I decided to invite him to the party, I guess I really wasn't thinking straight or something. Now I wonder if he'll really go with me tonight. I still haven't called Diane to confirm, but might as well call Harry first. Since he's already staying over at Max and Keith's house, I have their house number memorized from previous times. Veronica and I usually have to call them to see if Riley could be there on nights when he still isn't home.
"Hello?" I hear a man saying, it's not a very deep voice so I'm sure it's Max.
"Hey, um, Max?"
"Yeah? Amelia?"
"Yeah, hi, is Harry there?"
"Ooo" he says and I hear his faint chuckling "I don't know, may I ask why you need to talk to my good ol' pal?"
"No, that ain't non of your business, now is he there or not?"
"Well then," he waits "yeah pretty boy's here, hold on." He breathes in and yells out for Harry. "Hey Harry! Amelia's on the phone, says she needs to confess her undying love for you!"
"Max!" I say into the phone loud enough to make him hear how serious I am.
After a few seconds of muffling through the phone and laughing, someone finally speaks.
"Hey Amelia" Harry speaks into the phone. "Needed to tell me something?"
"Don't listen to Max." I say and hear him laugh "You still wanna go to the party later?"
"Yeah, I guess I can accompany you."
"Okay great then!" We discuss how we'll meet up, by me walking over to Keith's and then taking his car since Harry still doesn't know his way around town yet.
"Okay so I'll be there around six thirty then," I exclaim.
"Cool, see you later." Harry says
"See you later." I say and we hang up.
Now that Harry has confirmed that he'll go with me, I decide to call Diane. "Hi, Diane? It's me Amelia."
"Oh hey Em, so are you gonna be at the party tonight?" She replies.
"Yes I'll be there." I say and I hear her squeal and I guess she's content with my answer.
"So do you need us to come pick you up?"
"No need." I answer " Is it okay if I bring someone?"
"Yeah, the more the better," then she pauses once more. "You bringing one of your greaser friends?"
"No, this friend is new to the town actually."
"Okay, and hey, I know most go your friends down the east side aren't bad it's just,"
"I know, I know." I interrupt her. There's an awkward pause but then I continue. "What time should we get there?"
"Seven, seven thirty," she answers. "You know how these parties usually start a bit later and usually last all night."
"Okay so I'll see you then." I say trying my best to sound excited. After she says bye I look over seeing its already five in the afternoon and decide to get ready. I find my favorite simple black skirt. It's nice and tight, going up to just above the belly button, then it flows a bit on the bottom where it stops a few inches above my knees. I pair the skirt with my royal blue short blouse that is a bit cropped and cut so it goes around the ribs. I'm actually fond of the outfit since it's not to cut, clean and boring. I fix my hair up a bit, but it's already wavy so I move on to makeup. I never do too much just a bit of powder and a thin line of eyeliner.
