Kate's POV

We arrived back to the castle and I no longer felt the comfort I have felt the first time I arrived here. Everything was different now. Deyana and I were walking towards my room. We arrived at my front door and she looked at me. I could see the worry in her eyes.

"I picked another room which is just beside yours. Just call me if you need anything. I'll be here."

I smiled at her and she kissed my forehead. I felt grateful to have someone like Deyana by my side at these times. I retreated to my room and Lara came in just five minutes later.

"My lady, would you like a bathe?"

"No, Lara. I'm exhausted and I just need rest perhaps."

"As you wish, my lady." She bowed to me.

"How many times do I have to tell you to call me by my name?" I smirked at her and I could see the faint blush on her cheeks. "Have a great evening, Lara."

"You too, Kate."

I collapsed into my bed and tried to shut my mind off from everything that has happened. I could feel Lara putting a blanket over me and soon darkness surrounded me.

I woke up around 7 in the morning. Lara was at my room already preparing my things for today. She ushered me to follow her to the massive bathroom. I tried to diminish the negative thoughts that could happen but I just keep overthinking it. I guess I was staring too long that Lara had to shake me out of my thoughts.

"I'm sorry. I blacked out a little."

"That's no problem, my l- I mean Kate."

I smiled at her and she stripped me off of my clothes. I dipped my body into the water and l laid my head down at the corner of the tub and closed my eyes. I'm not sure what's ahead of me today. Will I have to face Elizabeth? Hopefully, not.

After I finished getting ready, Lara told me to head down to the dining hall. When I got there, luck wasn't in my favor apparently. At the edge of the table, sat Elizabeth, she's the head and countess after all. To her right was Victoria. If looks could kill I would be six feet under by now. I felt someone touched my back and that immediately calmed me.

"You'll be alright." It was Deyana. I released the breath I didn't know I've been holding. I followed her. She was seated at Elizabeth's left. She looked at me as if saying I need to sit beside her. So I did.

"I didn't know whores and play toys were allowed in this table." Victoria said. I could feel the two sisters stiffen at what she said. Deyana held my hand.

"If you wanna live, Victoria. You must learn how to keep that petty  mouth shut of yours." Deyana snapped at her.

"Oh my, who would have known?" Victoria smirked at Deyana and I. "That the two mighty sisters always chooses a weakling."

"You can just include yourself as one of those weaklings then." I said under my breathe but she heard it.

"You feisty little one. You're just a mere human living in the world of the most powerful creatures that ever stood before you." I could feel Victoria's anger rising. Within a blink, Deyana was holding Victoria by the throat. Her eyes were turning red. It was amazing yet scary at the same time.

"Enough! Both of you!" We were all startled by Elizabeth's booming voice. "Victoria, I am ordering you to show some respect towards Kate. Whether you like it or not."

"I can't believe your siding with her, Elizabeth."

"I don't care if we are bounded by marriage but disrespect her again and I'll have your head hanging at the front gate by sunrise."

I've never seen Elizabeth look this angry. She looked at me with sympathy in her eyes. I just gritted my teeth and Deyana went over to me.

"Are you alright?" I just nodded at her. She held my hand and led me back to my room. "I'm sorry you had to witness what happened back there."

"It's okay. You're just defending me from her." She smiled at me and hugged me.

"Oh the things I would do for you."

We remained holding each other until she asked  me if I'm still in the right condition to start training now.

"I could just let out all my anger in this training, you know."

"You're right, little kitten." She giggled. "Suit up and I'll be your personal trainer." She winked at me and I just laughed at her attempt to flirt. She called Lara in to help me.

When I finished, Deyana came back to my room. She was just looking at me with her mouth hanging open. I laughed at the sight of her like that.

"Close your mouth, Dey. You might get flies if you don't."

She gasped at me.

"Excuse you, my mouth smells perfectly fine. Taste is even better. Would you like to try?"

I couldn't help but laugh at her again. I went over to her and held her hand.

"Come on, I'm quite excited to train already." I could see the adoring smile crept unto her face and it made my smile even wider.
