Blood Countess

Chapter 14

My mind was preoccupied that I haven't felt Elizabeth enter the room. She sat next to me and embraced me.

"I've missed you."

"Where have you been? You were gone for a week without a letter or whatsoever. You just left." Wow. I sound like a housewife.

"Kate, love, calm down. I'll explain everything. Come with me." She took my hand and led me out of the room to her office. "There are a lot of things that I'm gonna tell you. You should take a seat." I sat in the nearby chair.

"Start explaining please. My mind is going crazy already." She sighed.

"The reason I was gone is because I was busy looking for your family's past. Your background. Where you really came from. I talked to your parents. Your adoptive parents rather." I gasped. "You see, Kate. The people who raised you weren't just any ordinary humans. They're what you called vampire hunters. Your adoptive parents are one of the most powerful in their kind. Your real mom is also a vampire hunter one of the best too. Fell in love with your dad, Stefan, a direct descendant of Lilith. Mother of vampires." I let the fact sink in.

"How? I thought it was forbidden just like what it said in the ancient books."

"It is. But that did not stop Stefan on pursuing your mother. She was the love of his undead life. When they had you, Stefan knew that the council will see you as a threat to our race. He took you to your  mom's family. Your family now. He knew you would be safe from them. They promised to protect you and keep you away from the council but fate has another way." I couldn't speak. I was in shock with everything she said. "Kate, listen to me." She held my face. "I will not let anyone hurt you, okay? Even if it costs me my life. I will protect you." She kissed my forehead.

"Why does the council see me as a threat?"

"It's because you're the offspring of the two most powerful beings in their kind." I just nodded.

"Elizabeth, about Deyana."

"What about her?" I can sense the jealousy radiating from her.

"What does she mean that I'm only one of your pets? Are you gonna throw me out after you're done with me?" My voice breaking. She clenched her jaw but a moment later her face softened down.

"She wants you apparently that's why she's saying those things. What can I do to prove to you that I will never leave and hurt you like that?" I looked at her. She can do nothing else. She has always been gentle with me the whole time I was here. She vowed to protect me and who am I to doubt her like that?

"I'm sorry for doubting you, Elizabeth." She smiled. That smile that can melt anyone's heart.

"It's okay. You have to trust me this time, okay?" I nodded and she kissed me. Her lips are so soft against mine just like what I've remembered. "Let me make it up to you. Tomorrow night, I'll take you out on a date. I've been gone for a whole week surely I would want to spend more time with you."

"That sounds fantastic." I smiled and kissed her. Oh heaven, help me. I've missed her so much.

The next day I was so excited for our date. It's the first time Elizabeth is gonna take me out on a date. When I woke up I was alone in bed already. But I found a note right beside me.

Kate,

I'll have Lara give you your dress in the afternoon. Rest for now, my love.

Elizabeth x
Although I'm missing her presence already. I decided to find a way to distract myself.

Afternoon came and just like what Elizabeth said, Lara was at the room to help me get ready. She prepared my bath.

The tub was full of lavender petals. The water was just right.

"Kate, the countess orders that you relax in the bath then we'll get you ready."

I just nodded and got in the tub. The water was relaxing and soothing. I closed my eyes and drifted off. I didn't realize Lara coming back. She started washing my hair. I took the soap and washed my body. After I was done, Lara dried my body. The dress Elizabeth was talking about was at the bed.

"Do you want me to dress you?"

"No need. Just leave for now. I'll call you when I'm done." I smiled at her. She bowed and left the room.

My eyes fell on the dress again. It was beautiful. It's an Elie Saab dress. It was a light shade of blue and the patterns and details are magnificent.

I put on the dress and it fits my body just right. It hugs my curves showing them a bit more. I called Lara and she did my hair. A little makeup was applied but that was it.

"The countess has ordered us to tell you to wait here until the sun sets. She'll be here to get you." She bowed and walked out of the room.

I can't wait for this date already.
