I felt betrayed, hurt, and used. I guess Victoria was right about me being only Elizabeth's play toy.

"Don't let Victoria's words affect you, Kate. She's a descendant of Set, in a few words, she's a deceiver." I was startled by Deyana's voice.

"ButI thought Elizabeth loved me? Why would she do this?" I could feel a tear run down my cheek.

"She did love you, Kate. It's just that she was already committed to someone else before you. Victoria left Elizabeth without telling her.Elizabeth didn't know where she went or why she left but my sister was hurt. The thought of Victoria leaving her pained her even more. She is her mate. Her one true mate. Elizabeth went mad after 50 years of not seeing her. Her loneliness and pain was eating her. Until she slept with other women, vampire or not, just to fill that hole in her dead heart. I know it's not right, I tried telling her that but she was too stubborn. It was the only way she could cope, Kate."

I was silent from that. I never knew anything about Elizabeth's past but it's still not right. Why did I even have to fall in love with someone like her?

"I wanna be alone for now, Dey. Please." She just nodded.

"Just call my name and I'll be here if you need anything." I just nodded then she left. Just as I thought I made up my mind. Elizabeth does this. I sighed and laid down in my bed. I shut my mind off of everything that happened and just hoped when I open my eyes, this will just be a dream.

Deyana's POV

I thought I was never gonna feel something intimate for someone again but Kate changed that. She's amazing in so many ways. I felt bad for not taking her away from my sister before she even fell for the love thing. She deserves so much better. She deserves all the good in the world. Not this pain my sister inflicted on her.

"Let me talk to her." I know that voice all too well.

"As if I will let you." I scoffed. "She's not mentally stable because of you. Your foolishness did this to her, Elizabeth."

"I know but I need to talk to her. You already know that she's being hunted by the council. Deyana, listen to me. She is the key to peace in our world and the Dhampirs but she can also be the great destroyer of everything. We learned about this. A child that can either save or destroy. The council is threatened and so are the Dhampirs. We have to keep her safe, Deyana. I may have swore to Victoria but a part of me belongs with her."

I thought about it for a moment and realized she was right. I would do anything for Kate even if she cannot do the same for me.

"I'm in. But sooner or later the council will find us here."

"Come back to the castle with me. Together with Kate. The council knows very well not to invade me." It's still not enough to keep Kate safe.

"They will still find a way to take her."

"Then we'll teach her to fight. You, Victoria, and I. Kate came from two of the most powerful bloodlines. It won't take much time for her to learn how to fight. She's stronger than you think she would be, Deyana."

I hate to say this but once again she was right. Kate is half vampire and half dhampir. Not just any vampire or dhampir but a powerful one.

"When do we go back?"

"Before sunrise tomorrow. Be prepared."

"I'll talk to her for you. Now go." And with that, she left before looking at me pleadingly. That can never work on me.

Kate's POV

I woke up the next morning with my eyes hurt from crying last night. I went to the bathroom and splashed water in my face. I could smell Deyana's cooking from the kitchen. I fixed my hair and went to her. My stomach made a stupid sound just looking at the food she made.

"Morning, kitten. You should eat. We have a lot of things to talk about."

I sat down and ate her delicious cooking. I couldn't hold back a moan since the food was just too good. I heard her chuckle and a blush crept into my cheeks. I kept eating and I could feel her eyes watching me and it made me feel self-conscious. I looked at her and she just smirked.

"Are you just gonna look at me or what?" She smiled and looked at me.

"I like looking at you. It's better than eating human food and besides, you look beautiful anyway."

There she goes again.

"So, what do you wanna talk about?" She looked at me skeptically. "You know, the one that you have many things to talk to me about." Her mouth formed an 'o' remembering what it was.

"Finish your food first, yeah?" I nodded my head and finished my food as fast as I can. She just chuckled and took my hand with her. She led me to the terrace overlooking the beach. "Elizabeth came back when you were asleep." I stopped in my tracks. She cupped my cheeks. "She just wanted to talk to you but I didn't let her. Unless you want to." I shook my head no. "We have to get out of here and go back to the castle, Kate. You'll be safer there. Remember the council?"

"What about it?"

"They're looking for you. Elizabeth has already explained the situation between you and your parents, right?" I nodded. "They won't stop until they have you. But don't worry, Elizabeth and I will protect you."

"If we go back to the castle, Victoria will be there." She kissed my forehead and looked at me in the eye.

"I won't let her harm you or better yet, I will never let anyone harm you." She assured me. My heart was beating too fast. I couldn't help but think about the bad things that may happen. "We'll teach you how to fight too. Just in case." She shrugged. "We leave before sunrise." I nodded my head at her and she just smiled.

"Thank you, Deyana."
