Chapter 17

Sasuke's POV

"He ran away..I know it." I mumbled to himself as I stopped my car at a stop sign.

"Where do you think he ran off to?" Sakura, who somehow heard me, said with concern in her voice. You see, our group split up into pairs so we can search for the missing man. Sakura and I paired up because we were pretty comfortable working with each other.

To be honest, i'm pretty glad no one else is her partner.

"Sasuke-kun?" Sakura repeated for the third time, which snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Huh?"

"Where are we exactly headed?"

"Oh," I smiled as I sped up the car "we're going outside of Konoha."

10 MINUTES LATER

"Why did you leave Konoha?" Sakura soon asked me as the bright sun kissed our faces and the wind danced with a couple strands of her hair.

She looked like an angel.

"I left because I was tired of everything. Everything I did would reminded me of Itachi it made me feel really depressed." Sakura stared at my face as I answered her, which made me feel conscious of myself. "W-What?"

"Ahh..it's nothing. Do you..do you regret leaving?" She sat back in her seat "I mean..you met Naruto there, didn't you?"

"I guess I did...but the whole time I felt so guilty—" I was suddenly interrupted when Sakura's hand landed on my shoulder, I kept driving with my eyes on the road.

"At least your back." Sakura smiled. I averted my eyes for a second and found myself smiling just like her. I quickly looked away when Sakura turned her head to look at me.

When the car eventually ran out of gas, we had to look for a gas station. We eventually found one after 20 minutes of searching.

"We only drove 6 miles how did your car run out of gas so fast?!" Sakura spoke through her open window as I stood outside of the car, filling up the car with gas.

"Naruto probably took it out without telling me." I replied back as I nervously looked at my receipt. 'My poor wallet'

I got in the car after paying for the gas and drove off. I let down all the windows which made Sakura's bright pink hair run wild. I chuckled as Sakura continuously tried placing her hair back in place.

"Hey! Put up some of the windows Sasuke-kun!" Sakura whined.

After about 45 minutes of driving, we eventually stopped at a lake to eat.

"I skipped breakfast so.." I said as I bit into the sandwich Ino's father made for us before we all parted.

"Arghh..I feel bad for eating though." Sakura pouted as she stared at the sandwich across from her. The wind danced with the ends of her hair as she spoke.

"Why?"

"You heartless creature, do you think Sai-kun had any food?" the pinkette glared at me. I put down my sandwich and sat down in the grass next to her instead of across from her.

"Look, in order to find him we have to have energy right? Sai wouldn't be happy either if we don't eat as well. He's our comrade." I stated seriously. I then picked up Sakura's sandwich and held it up to her mouth.

"Eat." I demanded. Sakura hesitated for a second until she gave in with an annoyed face. I wasn't sure but I think I saw her cheeks paint pink for a couple seconds. I gave her a small smile as I put down the sandwich and watched her try the food.

"Ino's father is a good cook." Sakura mumbled.

'She's so cute..' I smiled.

Sakura's POV

As I finished up my sandwich, my eyes slowly met with Sasuke's hands which rested beneath his chin as he rested, waiting for me.

The same hand that tried to feed me.

I shook my head at the memory.

'He's so..weird—why am I blushing?' I slapped my cheeks in order to stop them from being red but that just made it even worse.

"Why are you slapping yourself?" Sasuke asked with an 'I-Just-Woke-Up' voice which made my situation even worse.

"I-I don't know," I shook my head as an attempt to make this stuttering go away "i'm done with my food, let's go back to the car!"

"W-Wait," Sasuke-kun let out a yawn. "I just got up so i'm a bit drowsy. Five more minutes."

"A-Alright.." I pouted as I realize that I stuttered again.

'What..What's going on with me?'

"Sakura...what's that over there?" I jerked up my head from the spot I was staring at on the ground and curiously stared at the ravenette.

"What?" I turned my head to the direction Sasuke-kun was pointing at.

Sai was on the other side of the river, sleeping.
