CHAPTER 8

I couldn't face him. I just couldnt, it was to much. I had to get out of there.

As we were walking down the bleachers, I got an idea on how I could get away.

"Josh? I need to...um...use the restroom." I said in monotone.

"I'll wait here for you." He said in a hopeful, quiet tone.

I snap my head up."No....josh......its okay, i-i can go by myself, thanks." I dont need josh for everything, I can do things on my own.

He looked down and sighed. I dont want him sad, always happy, never sad.

I look at the clock in the school hallway. 7:55. Five minutes to get to class. "You should get to class josh, or you'll be late."

He picked his head up to look at the time. "Right. See you later." He looked away for a second, then planted a kiss on my forehead. I didnt pull away, I wanted to savor our last moment.

He walked away with his head hung low, and I had to look away because I was getting teary eyed.

I walked inside of the restroom and waited for the first bell to ring, signaling all students to go to first period.

I wait until the tardy bell went off and I couldn't hear the slamming of lockers and chattering of students in the hall to come out.

I ran out of the school and into the parking lot, looking where to go next. I sigh, I didnt really think this through.

I guess I could go to the park? Or maybe even home? No, I couldn't go home, my mom would ask why I was there. I guess I'm going to the park.

As soon as I get there, I find a bench to sit on. The walk over here was tiring, and I had a lot of thinking to do.

I can't break up with josh, I just can't. He means so much to me, and he cares about me.......God, I'm a mess.

Im snapped out of my thoughts when I see a guy fall on the sidewalk next to me and yelp in pain.

I'm quick to run over and help. "are you okay!? I saw you fall and it looked pretty painful." I say as I help him up.

He groaned a bit and looked up at me. "Yeah, I'm okay. Thanks for helping me up, too" he said shyly while rubbing the back of his neck.

I laugh at his awkwardness. "Of course, anytime."

He looked about my age, with fluffy black hair and brown puppy eyes. He was about 4 inches taller than me, and had an unusual size forehead, but he made it work. He was wearing black skinny jeans and a gray button down T-shirt with glasses.

I could tell he was looking over me too, but trying to not get caught.

he looks at me. "So, do you live around here?"

"Yeah, actually, I live in those apartments over there." I say and point to the apartments across the street.

He nods his head. "Sweet. Do you go to school or....."

I laugh a little. "I go to the school down the street from here."

He gets excited about this. "Oh sick dude! I just moved here about two days ago, I'm going to that school too!"

"Oh really!? That's great! We could so be friends!"

"Totally! Just one thing, what's your name?"

"My name is Tyler, what's yours?"

"My name is Brendon, its nice to meet you Tyler." He says and puts his hand out for me to shake.

I return the gesture. "Its nice to meet you to Brendon." I say and bow.

He laughs hard and sighs, "Well, I have to go, but before I do, can I get your number? So we can stay in touch?"

I giggle, "Of course you can Brendon, text me when you can." I say and write my number down to give to him.

He smiles down at me, "I will, can't wait to see you again."

"Me neither." And with that he walked to his car.
