Two Months Later
Melanie POV

My eyes popped open to a bunch of noise downstairs. I rolled over, Mille had the same puzzled face on hers as I did mine.

"The hell is going on down there?"She asked. I shrugged and got up.

We went to our bathroom and completed our hygiene for the day. Today we had an appointment with the obgyn to check on the baby.

We were hoping to get extra sleep but the noise downstairs prevented us from doing that.

I went downstairs to see what was going on.

"Girl you need not watch what I'm doing."Marla yelled.

"What is your problem?"Desiré asked.

"Your STD infested ass living in this house. I hope you clean everything you touch."Marla spat. "Aye!"I yelled, shutting them both up. It's been two months and everything was going great, until now.

"What's goin' on up in hea? Wakin' my lady up."

"She started it."They said in unison as Abigail ate her food at the table.

"We all grown up in hea, ain't no childish shit."

"Why do you have this infested chick living here? Is she even paying rent?"Marla questioned like it was her business. It's not!

"It's my house, worry 'bout ya damn self. Just don't say shit to each other."I resolved.

I huffed. "Come on baby, you've got to get to dance class."Marla told Abigail.

They went upstairs and so did I. We just so happened to go back down at the same time.

Abigail huffed, her mother practically dragged her down the steps.

"What's wrong?"I asked, squatting down to her level.

"Nothing is wrong with her, she's always like that."Marla chimed in. "I don't like dancing."She said, her head hanging low.

"You don't like dancing,"I repeated. "Yes she does."Marla butted in.

"No I don't. I've been dancing for seven years, I never liked it."Abigail responded. "I like to break dance though. And I like to style my dollies hair."

"Oh, no you don't. You like dancing."Marla uttered.

"She doesn't like dancing."I stood up to my feet.

"You can't tell me what my daughter likes."Marla snapped. "Bruh, she just said that. Common sense, are you dumb?"I snapped back.

"She'll dance as long as I live. Now, let's go."Marla dragged her out of the house.

I made a mental note to spend some time with my niece, bonding time. If her own mother doesn't pay attention to her, I will. I made another note to talk to Marla, some bonding time there too.

Until then, though, I need to focus on the appointment Mille and I are going to.

"We can get something on the way home."I say, pulling up to the doctors office.

"But I want it now."Mille whined, stomping her feet on the car floor.

"Girl stop that. Don't go in there actin' a fool."I warned. She rolled her eyes, "whatever."

We got out and went inside, straight to the back.

"How's my favorite two?"Karlina, the obgyn asked. "We're fine."Mille answered, obviously still mad that I didn't get her anything to eat before we came here.

"Let's see how the baby's doing."She smiled, turned on the machine and put the jelly on Mille's stomach.

"Ah! Looka that big 'ole head."Karlina giggled but I didn't get the joke. The baby gets that big head from me.

"Let's see if it'll move it's head so we can look at the heart."She moved it around, getting to the heart shortly after. "Sounds healthy, looks healthy. Ready for the sex? What do you two want?"She asked, looking away from the machine. "A girl,"We replied in unison. She smiled.

"Looks like you got what you bargained for!"She grinned, showing the sex of the baby. Oh my gawd! Issa fe!

"I'll be back with a copy of the ultra sound."Karlina left the room after she cleaned the jelly up. "Next stop?"I asked, helping Mille sit up. She flattened out her maternity shirt. "Pizza."She got down with my assistance.

"I'm going home. Going to sleep and nobody's going to interrupt it."Mille warned as we walked to the car.

"Mhm."I uttered.

We picked up pizza for everybody for lunch and went home. Sure enough, Mille was first to finish her three slices and was upstairs asleep. "No, Abigail. Don't give the dog that."Marla stopped Abigail who was trying to be sneaky and give Day and Night pieces of pepperoni. "It's okay."I interjected. "That's greasy, it'll mess up their stomachs."Marla said.

"That's true but their very strong dogs. They can handle it."I tell her, shutting the conversation down. I threw the plastic plate away and headed upstairs. I was about to open the door to my bedroom until I heard talking. Mille is supposed to be sleep, not talking on the phone.

"I don't know how long we can keep this up..."Mille paused, I guess listening to the person on the other end. "You know I don't like hiding stuff from her."Mille told the person, putting him/her on speaker. "You don't have to hide it anymore. Tell her about us, what we got going on."The lady said.

"I can not."

"Ugh, whatever Ka'Mille. You know where my house at, be there at ten."The person hung up. Mille huffed as I walked into our room, closing the door behind myself.

"What's got you huffing all out like that?"I asked, completely ignoring the fact that I'd just eavesdropped on her conversation. I trusted her, so I wasn't going to ask about it. She'll come to me in due time if her own mischievousness starts to bother her. Usually, she ends up ratting on herself so I just wait on it most times.

"Nothing."She responded. I scoffed, knowing it wasn't nothing she was huffing about. "What you scoffing about?"She asked.

"Nothing,"I mimicked her.

She scrunched up her face before deciding to ignore my sudden attitude.
