Melanie POV
"So..."I mumbled.
"So..."She repeated.
"Why do you act that way towards me?"I asked her.
I finally found some time to talk to Marla. We were out, walking around the neighborhood in the dark. It was eleven pm, perfect timing for Day and Night's dark walks.
"The truth?"
I nodded. Tonight, I was finally going to get the answers I needed. This is my closure. Closure to why my own sister treated me like shit all my life. I had questions!
"If you want me to completely honest... I saw how happy you were with Ka'Mille, I want that. Caleb forced me to act happy when I wasn't. I wanted everything you had, the big house, loving spouse. I want a happy family in a nice house."
"What about when we were younger? Before we were both married, when we were kids. What's your answer for that?"I asked, once we stopped for them to pee.
"... We were younger. That's what siblings did."She shrugged. "No! Siblings don't constantly jab at each other and stab each others foot."I snapped.
"I told you I was sorry for stabbing you in the foot. Your feet were pretty, mine weren't."
"That's about the dumbest excuse you've ever came up with."
"I was jealous of you... And Michelle. I was the ugly one, you got all the praise."
"Praise? Girl whet!"
"You played basketball, ran track and played volleyball. You won trophies for everything you did. Michelle played soccer, and volleyball right with you. I didn't have the physical strength to do anything like that. I blamed y'all for it and that was wrong, I know. I stabbed your foot because I thought it would slow you down. And it did, temporarily."
"I couldn't play for the whole volleyball season, you fucker!"I screamed.
"Melanie! I'm sorry okay. I truly am. I've repented. Everybody has forgiven my wrong doings, do you?"
I said nothing. Do I forgive her for giving me that lifetime lasting scar on the top of my foot? For bullying me my whole life? For giving me nightmares as a kid? For cutting my bangs off when I was six? For hiding my track shoes so I had to participate in track practice barefoot?
That's barely half of what she did to me! We were kids. Now, adults and much more mature than before.
"I forgive you, I guess."I finally said. Before I knew it, she had me engulfed in a hug. I stood there, letting her hug me, until I built up a little courage to hug her back.
"Okay that's enough!"I say, trying to push her off.
We continued our walk back home. "How was your day?"She asked. "Nice, Gail and I went to skyzone yesterday."I replied.
"How was that?"
"Nice, you know she said she hates dancing. She likes ballet and a little break dancing."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, you should see her moves. Maybe you should spend more time with your daughter."I suggested but I guess I struck a nerve.
"What?"She snapped.
"She told me, she wishes she'd spend more time with you."
"Oh..."
"You know, since you're always at work."
"Oh..."
"What is your line of work, if you don't mind me asking."I asked. It isn't my business, I'm just curious.
"I'm an escort."
"Prostitution?"
"Ooh girl no, my body's too old for that. But I'm still cute enough to escort."She chuckled.
"Are you happy with your job?"
"No, it ruined my marriage."
"Well what's your dream job?"
"I don't have one. I pictured my life easygoing, no work. Just play,"
"Life is not just play."
"What do you know about work. Kamille's rich enough. You live off her!"She spat, getting offended.
"But she still works. I do not live off her, that's why I have a job. I don't want to depend on someone else, financially. I like to have my own money."
"Whatever. That's what your spouse is for. They make the money, you relax."
"You got the game messed up hunny."I scoffed.
After that, nothing was said. We were three houses down from mine when she decided to say something.
"What's it like?"
"What's what like?"I asked, yanking Night's leash so he wouldn't step in the ant pile.
"Dating a girl. What's it like?"
"I don't know what dating any ole' girl is like, just Mille."
"What's the difference?"
"There is no difference. It's just like dating a guy, better to me. Ion know how to explain it."I sighed.
"I guess I'll just have to see for myself."She responded.
"Yeah, I guess so."I mumbled.
By that remark, I knew she had something up her sleeve. She was about to do something she had no business doing. I guess I'll find out in due time.
We walked inside and went upstairs. Unsurprisingly, Mille wasn't home. Where could she have gone in this short amount of time?
I picked up my phone to call her. Before I could text her, she sent me a message. Don't call my phone, busy rn. Well I be damned! My own wife is too busy for me. I decided to call her anyway but she sent me to voicemail. I called a couple more times, voicemail everytime.
The fuck could her pregnant ass be doing?
She's hiding something and as her wife, I'm going to find out!
