I was drifting in and out of sleep, my head felt light and funny from all the crying, and all I wanted to do was conk out on the nearest surface. For the past couple of hours, I have been sitting in my same position, staring at the place where "Paul" was once sitting. It had all sunk in, I understood their problems. It still was a heavy burden, but it was more understandable. A blanket was wrapped around me but it's warmth was not reaching my body. Seconds later, I realised that my father would be screaming the house down at the moment, wondering where I was. My father didn't mind me staying out late or sleeping over at friends houses, but I always had to let him know- just to assure her that I was alive and not dead, floating in a river in Malaysia. A dry, humourless laugh escaped from my lips- the first sound I had made for hours.
A shadow was cast in front of me on the floor and I looked up to see Will's gorgeous face, staring down at me with concern. "Leah, you look like a prune."
Yeah, thanks for that Willy, that really boosted my confidence, I hissed to myself... wondering where this boy got his rudeness from. I just stared at him, he has so much cheek to insult my appearance after the day I've just had.
Seconds later, he was violently shoved out of the way onto the other couch, and replaced by a sincere Matthew. "What the loser meant to say was, you must be tired. Do you need to call a parent or...?"
I smiled at his sincerity, most people assume that everybody lives with their mothers... I don't even know where my mother is...
I pushed that negative thought out of my head, focussing on him.
"Uh yeah.. I need to call my dad, tell him I'll be home late."
"Leah are you shitting me, it's way too late for you to be out, will he let you sleep over?"
I contemplated the idea... me sleeping in a house with 3 super hot boys, who are gang members. Well, EX gang members, but they were gang members all the same. They have guns in their house, and there could be another ambush of their "rivals". Then my heart rate began to speed up. I started to think going home would be a good idea. I glanced at the clock on the wall and it read 11:47pm. Oh Crap. There was no way in hell that I could start trudging home now, even if one of the boys gave me a lift. I still admire them all the same, it's just that their past made my blood curdle. I shyly nodded my head, and brought my phone out of my jacket pocket, about to call my dad.
"I'll call him for you," Callum said simply. I gaped at what he said. A boy, to call my dad, so late at night, without him hearing my voice... now that will end in disaster and destruction.
"What?! Callum, I suggest you don't try it.. DON'T. You are digging yourself an early grave." I shrieked, concerned for his physical safety. My dad would find some way to track him down and make his life unbearable.
"Chill Leah, I have a way with words." He replied casually, putting a finger to his lips with one hand and taking the phone from me with another. With that, he stalked out of the room and closed the door.
I watched the empty space that was filled with Callum only a couple of seconds ago. Where did these guys get their immense amount of bravery from? Because I need a bigger dose of it for myself. I only just prayed that the phonecall went positively, and the odds of that are about 1 in a Million.
