Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. I promised you guys this chapter, like, two months ago, but, in my defense. . .
. . .
. . .
. . .
. . .
. . .
Yeah, I got nothing. But here it is anyway!
So I finished Percy Jackson and the Olympians. (Not the Heroes of Olympus, though, you guys will only be getting that if my school library has it.) I liked it pretty well, the story was pretty good and it had decent character development, no two-dimensional characters. The only thing I had a problem with was that Percy is kinda stupid. Unless it's convenient for the plot that he has the perfect answers.
Not big that'll an effect to the story, just small things that most people would have figured out.
"Oh, the only thing I'm good at is canoeing and when I stand in this water, my wounds are magically healed. Oh, by the way, I wonder who my father is."
"Hey, this kid is abnormally large and only has one eye. He must be normal, it's not like there's an entire mythical world that I don't know the half of."
Now, this is obviously exaggerated, so don't come after me in the comments, I'm just trying to make a point. It's kind of like Harry Potter. If it keeps the story going, he is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
"There's a pile of letters on the floor along with some flying through the air. Let me try to grab one out of the air instead of picking one up off the floor."
"I'm called the Seeker and this little ball that it 'wicked fast and downright impossible to see' is 'the only thing Wood wants me to worry about' I have absolutely no idea what I am supposed to do in Quidditch. It's not like it's the only sport anyone ever talks about."
"The symbol of Slytherin is a serpent and Slytherin himself was a Parselmouth. Say, I wonder what's in Slytherin's secret man-cave. Maybe it's freaking Dumbo the Elephant!"
You get my drift?
Oh, and can someone explain to me how no one heard a hero ask for the 600th floor and be just a little bit curious about what it was? Ever!?
Okay, rant over. I think.
Now, it's been a while since I finished the series, so I can't do a proper review, but let me just say that I am now open to Percy Jackson ships on my one shot ships book thing that I really need a better name for.
Oh, and isn't Blackjack the best!?
That's it for now, and I just realized I forgot to tell you guys about my new original story. I'm going to try not to give up on it like I usually do, but I don't really have much of an idea of what the main story arc will be, so I'll have to get that worked out. But, there are already four or so chapters up if you want to read that far, and I've got about three more chapters in drafts, so it'll be a while before I run out of ideas.
Love you Nargle Fam! (It's been a while since I've done that. . .)
