This Time On: Stupid Classmates That Make Me Upset With Humanity

I think I need to work on the name.

So, geometry. In class, we're learning about angles. We've been taught that the angles in a triangle add up to 180 degrees, so, to explain why the angles of a quadrilateral add up to 360 degrees, my teacher drew a square with a diagonal line, two triangles. Since there were two trianges, the angles added up to 360. 

He also showed how this could be applied to other polygons. He drew a pentagon and showed how it was made up of three triangles, so the angles all added up to 540 degrees. 

Then, he drew a six-sided shape and asked, "Okay, what's this called."

"Octagon."

"An octagon."

"It's a Octagon."

"Octagon."

I literally facepalms and groaned, "It's a hexagon."

My teacher just kind of stared and said, "A stop sign is an octagon. This has six sides, so it's a hexagon."

Let me remind you that everyone in that class was between fourteen and eighteen years old. Can people seriously not tell the difference between a hexagon and an octagon? 

I want to try something. Everyone reading this draw a square, a pentagon, and a hexagon on seperate peices of paper and get someone to tell you what they are as quickly as possible. I need to know if this is everyone, or just the people in my class.
