July 7th, 7 days until the Ball [Nighttime]
"Fine, Absolute. Let's fight."
Lady Fortune drew her sword and lunged at her opponent. Absolute used his sword to block and sidestepped. They he tried to grab her earring but she jumped back and went for his hand.
"That's all you got?" Absolute flirted. He flew up a few yards to avoid a fire ball Lady Fortune telekinetically threw at him.
"Not even close." Lady Fortune said. By now the crowd has run and the only people that stayed were Alya and Nino. Alya was filming for the Ladyblog. Nino was trying to convince her to leave.
Telekinetically, Lady Fortune created 20 daggers and flew them at Absolute. Absolute blocked them with a black shield he held in his left hand. Lady Fortune flew above Absolute to get a height advantage, Absolute challenged her by flying up to her, and meeting her eye to eye.
He put his sword up last second to block Lady Fortune's attack. Absolute then went after an open area of her side, but at the last second he hesitated. Lady Fortune used this to her advantage, striking him in the arm.
"Mari. Please. " Absolute started but he stopped to fend off Lady Fortune. They got into a heated swordfight. They were flying, but they seemed to step on the air as they fought each other instead. As they fought, Absolute's bold green eyes, stared into Lady Fortune's wicked purple eyes. He continued to talk.
"Marinette, I started having a big crush on Ladybug: but it wasn't until I found out that she is really you. The girl underneath the mask is you; that was when I actually fell in love with you. I might have said I loved Ladybug before the reveal, and I meant it; but it wasn't until after the reveal that I found out that I loved you in a way that I couldn't ever love Ladybug. Because Ladybug is a perfect version of you. And you are Ladybug, you are perfect, but you are human. I see your many amazing qualities and your few flaws, and your flaws make me love you more, in a way I could never love Ladybug. Ladybug is you. I might have had a crush on the mask, but it's you, the girl underneath the mask, that I fell in love with. So please come back to me."
Lady Fortune stopped fighting Absolute for a second. She made her sword disappear. Lady Fortune flew over to Absolute, who made his sword disappear also. By now they had flown near the top of the Eiffel Tower. She put her right hand on his cheek. And then Lady Fortune burst out laughing as she created a short dagger in her left hand and held it to Absolute's throat.
"You really think that sappy speech would change a thing? Think it would make me give up and love you? Did you forget the reason I am who I am?" Lady Fortune seriously asked.
A single tear came out of Absolute's eyes. Lady Fortune didn't notice his green sword forming in his hand.
"I really hoped it would. Because a mask doesn't define who we are, Marinette." Absolute said. "But desperate times call for desperate measures. And saving you is as desperate as it gets."
Lady Fortune stood there with a confused look on her face.
"I'm sorry, Marinette." Absolute took his sword and thrust it into Lady Fortune's abdomen. The single tear dripped down his cheek.
Absolute grabbed Lady Fortune before she could fall and brought her to the top of the Eiffel Tower. He took out the earrings and crushed them in his hand. A majestic red butterfly flew out. He captured it.
