PHOENIX POV
Seoyoon sat in front of me, her kids to the left of her.
Jungkook sat beside me. He was obviously a bit nervous.
She had shown up out of nowhere with a suitcase and her kids. I would've been confused as well.
The kitchen table felt colder than usual today. No one spoke. Not even the kids. They just looked down. Hyung Seok was holding Hyeri's hand.
Seoyoon cleared her throat, breaking the silence, "Yong Soo called."
Jungkook stiffened beside me. His hands clenched his shirt.
But who was Yong Soo? Why did his name make the room so tense?
I reached my hand over to Jungkook's. He relaxed a bit.
"What did he say?" Jungkook asked, he didn't sound like he actually wanted to know.
"He... he's in Gwangju right now. And... he wants us back." Seoyoon looked down.
Jungkook let out a long sigh and squeezed my hand under the table. I couldn't have been more confused.
"Don't you dare take the kids back to him."
The kids? What?
"Jungkook-ah..." Seoyoon said with a whiny tone. I knew it wasn't a good time to be jealous, but it bothered me that she had a name for him while Jungkook was just Jungkook to me. "I have to... he's my hus-"
"And if he leaves again? Where are you going then?" Jungkook gritted his teeth.
Hus-? Leaves again? Seoyoon's husband?
My eyes widened. What?! She was just leaving like that? After he left her with two kids?
Even I was shocked.
"He won't leave. I feel it. He's different no-"
"And how would you know that?" Jungkook cut her off. He was upset. I could tell by how he narrowed his eyes, the way he sat up straighter, and his jaw clenching.
"I just know he is. I was planning on just going, but I thought you had the right to know."
"You're not going anywhere. You're not taking the kids anywhe-" Jungkook started standing up but was interrupted by Hyeri.
I understood what Jungkook was trying to say, he didn't want Seoyoon to be hurt anymore. But for some odd reason, it kind of hurt to see him fight that hard for her. She was so horrible to him, yet she got so much attention from him.
I slipped my hand away from Jungkook's before Hyeri cut in. He didn't even notice. Ha.
"Mommy, why are we leaving Appa?" She asked, pouting.
Even my heart softened at her words. Jungkook seemed to be even more affected.
"Hyeri shush!" Hyung Seok whispered to her, "Mommy says we have a new Appa now."
The room got even more tense than before. Jungkook was standing up at the table, dumbfounded.
Seoyoon stood up too, grabbing her kids' hands. "We're going."
