PHOENIX POV
My first boyfriend. Kwon MinHyuk.
I literally promised myself that I wasn't going to let anyone else get past my walls, but all of a sudden, this random guy broke through them.
I said yes.
I drove home confused and shook but kind of happy.
My mom was in the kitchen cooking dinner and my dad was drying the dishes. I dropped my keys onto the table and sighed.
Mom and Dad both looked up. Dad spoke first, "What is it now Phoenix?"
I sat down and put my head against the table, slightly groaning, "I think I have a boyfriend."
They immediately stopped what they were doing and sat down in front of me. My Mom's eyes were sparkling, I knew she liked stuff like this.
"Name, age, height, occupation or studies?" She pressed.
I laughed at her readiness. It was like she prepared for it all. Surprisingly, Dad looked calm. He was usually super strict about boys but this time, he listened.
I leaned my head against my hand, "Hm... his name is MinHyuk. He's a few years older than me, and about six foot or a little taller. I'm pretty sure he's just a business guy."
I kinda lied about that last part, but I didn't want to spill everything yet.
My Dad finally spoke, "Wait. How did you meet some business guy and decide to date him?"
Ugh. I knew this question would come up.
"Well I met him in a restaurant when I was still in Korea. We just naturally got along and now we're a thing." I tried my best to not lie and act cool about it.
Before Dad could say anything else, Mom slapped his shoulder and smiled, "That's great honey. At least you're feeling much better, isn't that right Dad?"
He nodded but didn't let it drop, "Okay. I won't question anymore, but would you let him speak on the phone with us?"
I hesitated but called MinHyuk anyways. Hey, he wanted to be my boyfriend, so he was going to have to live up to the expectations.
He picked up after 3 rings.
"Kwon MinHyuk speaking."
"You really need to stop saying that." I laughed a little.
"Oh right, it'll take a while for me to get used to that. Was there something you needed?"
"Well um... my parents kinda want to talk to you but it's totally okay if you don't want to, actu-"
"I'd love to. Actually, I'll be close to your home in a few. I'm at the dry cleaners right now. Would it be easier if I just dropped by?"
Meeting my parents on the first day of dating? What?!
My parents looked at me, waiting for me to tell them what was going on.
"Um... I'll call you back after I talk to my parents okay?" Well, I didn't want to rush anything.
"That's fine. Goodbye."
"Bye."
My parents both gave me a confused look. Mom raised an eyebrow, "Why'd you hang up?"
