Joey

"I'm gonna win!" I yelled as I found more crystals in the back garden.

"I don't think so! I found some more!" Meghan yelled back.

Meghan and I have been friends since we could walk. When our parents aren't around, we play this game called Minecraft. Our parents don't allow video games. Every week on a Wensday, we have my butler, Pemberley, hide crystals in the back garden and play like a real life Minecraft game. The crystals are diamonds and whoever finds the most in 5 mintues, wins.

"Ha! I just found the mother load!" I yelled as I grabbed all of the crystals and put them in my bag.

"Oh be quiet, ya walnut!" She yelled.

Beep!

"Time!" Yelled Meghan. "Come over here, let's count. 27. You?"

"Um," I said as started counting. "26. Dang it! One off!"

"Yay! I win! Your right, winning is fun." She said as she did a victory dance. She only said that because I always win. It's like a super power I have, finding crystals.

"Meghan, we have to go now!" Her mom yelled.

"Coming mom!" She yelled. "Bye Joey."

"Bye." I replied.

"Prince Joseph, your mother needs to see you in the library." Pemberly told me.

"Thanks, Pemberly. I held over there now." I said standing up.

I walked to library and saw my mom pacing and my dad sitting in a chair.

"Mom, dad, is everything all right?"

"Sweetie, we have to tell him. It's time. He doesn't have much time anymore." My dad told my mom.

"What are you talking about? Am I gonna die?" I asked getting a little scared.

"No, no Joey. No. Before you were born, your father banned all magic and certain people who loved other certain people to keep you safe. This powerful witch found out you were born and cursed you. That's why you have that golden bracelet." My mum told me.

"Curse? I don't understand." I said looking at the bracelet.

"If you didn't find a way to break the bracelet or find the person with the other half, if you didn't by the time you turned 18, you would turn into something."

"What? I-I' m, I'm..." Before I could say anything else I ran to my room, feeling tears crawl down my face. I jumped on my bed and buried myself under my blankets. Joey, let's look for the other half by yourself. They've searched for this long, it's my turn. I thought to myself. We will leave at before midnight. I got up and locked the door and started packing my things.

I put all of my extra thing in a box and grabbed my bow and some arrows to take along.

Shortly after dinner, I put on some light brown boots, brown pants, a white shirt with sleeves, and a jean vest. I put my bow on my back and put the arrows in a sack to carry arrows and hung it over my back. I climbed down the vines outside my window with the box. When I reached the bottom, I hid the box under some leaves and dirt. I snuck out the gates and ran into the forest. I knew I had to be cautious because of wolves.

I snuck around trying my best not to be spotted by any wolves. As I kept walking to get to a different place, I found some wolves and grabbed my bow. I quietly walked, trying to blend in with the forest, and then I stepped on a stick.

SNAP!

The wolves looked in my direction and started howling. Crap, I'm an idiot. I may not ever have the curse affect me, but I will be eaten alive by wolves. A couple wovles started walking to where I was. I needed to get away. I climbed the tree that was in front of me and layed on a branch. I didn't move and then I heard a big crash behind me which made me jump. Without realizing it, my foot had slipped and I was hanging by my hands. Shit. I heard another crash and then growling from wolves. I shut my eyes tight in fright. A tear rolled down my face.

Then I heard crying wolves and running against leaves. I opened one eye and the wolves were all gone. I let go of the branch and landed on my feet.

"Are you okay?" A voice called behind me.
