Chapter 13

"Ladies and gentlemen, the moment we've all been waiting for! Welcome to the championship match of Pallet Town's first ever World Tourney!" the announcer exclaims through the mic. Everyone's cheers roar loudly throughout the stadium, many audience members now in the crowd. Many being their first time there after hearing Avi was battling or hearing that Ash was of course one of the champions as well.

Avi gets her belt with her Pokemon back on after making sure everyone was in top shape and waits for her introduction in one hidden corner while Ash and Pikachu are getting pumped in another hidden corner of the arena.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing these two battle it out! I know it'll be the match of the century!" Professor Oak says, sounding really pumped as well.

"Knowing Avi, she'll give it her all as champion along with Ash's friend and I'm presuming girlfriend now" Bella laughs a bit. Lucario nods in agreement along with Lucy. Delia nods as well, "And I'm sure Ash will give it his all as well! He always does regardless of who is opponent is and win or lose, I'm sure he'll be happy with the results!" she smiles big. Dratini goes down the steps and jumps onto Professor Oak's lap, then starts laughing at him getting scared.

"Dratini, a little warning would be appreciated!" he exclaims. Dratini affectionately wraps its tail around the professor as a form of apology and comfort, and he can't help but chuckle. "Alright alright, I'll take it" he says. Dratini smiles big then they all look out at the stadium.

"Alright, on this side of the stadium," the announcer gestures to their left side, "born in the Sinnoh region but queen of Alola, the Champion of the Islands, Aviana!" Avi comes out of the hidden doorway that opens up and walks out to the battlefield and everyone goes crazy. Lucario, Lucy, Dratini and Mimey cheer as well and Avi waves at everyone with a small smile on her face, still not used to the attention she gets as champion.

"Now this side of the stadium," the announcer gestures to their left, "born in the Kanto Region and has traveled many regions to become a Pokemon Master, Pallet Town's own Ash Ketchum!" Ash and Pikachu run out to the field and the crowd roars just as loud for him as they did Avi. They smile big and use both hands to wave at everyone.

Avi watches him and smiles a bit, "he really is enjoying himself..." she says quietly, placing a hand on her hip and watching him in amusement. Ash sees Avi staring and blushes a bit, but smiles confidently, "No matter what happens, we'll be cool right?" he asks.

"It's just a battle, Ash," she giggles, "I don't have my usual team on me, but I can make it work. I wish you luck," she says as she walks to the center and sticks her hand out to shake his hand. He smiles more at the gesture and approaches her as well. Once they're in the middle, they shake hands, "Let's give them a battle they won't forget" she smiles. Ash nods, determined to give this battle his all.

"Whenever you two are ready." the referee says. They both nod, then Ash runs back to place and Avi decides to do a couple of back flips back to her place and slide back a bit. "Alright Ash, as Champion of Alola I insist you go first." she teases.

"Alright then, Hawlucha I choose you!" Ash exclaims as he throws out his Pokeball. Hawlucha comes out proudly and lands gracefully on the ground, then progresses to flexing a bit and posing.

Avi laughs a bit, "Strong, confident, admirable! Adorable if I may add," she grabs her Pokeball, "Alright then, we're a little rusty but I'm sure it'll work fine!" Avi says, then throws her Pokeball and out comes a Blaziken. Blaziken lets out a loud cry along with shooting some fire out and Ash takes two steps back, feeling the warmth of the flames despite being quite the distance away. "You see, I brought Blaziken back with me to the Alola region and ever since he did some battling there, his fire has been quite intense and blazing, no pun intended" she laughs a bit. "So lets see how he'll do outside of the region."

"Blazing or not, we'll still beat him!" Ash says confidently. "Alright Hawlucha, flying press!" he exclaims. Hawlucha jumps high into the air then proceeds to gaining speed while falling to slam right into Blaziken. Blaziken crosses his arms and intercepts his slam, able to hold him back while Hawlucha tries to push into him.

"Impressive" Avi smiles, "But not enough to take us down this early! Blaziken, flamethrower!" she exclaims. Blaziken grabs Hawlucha's arms while his are still crossed, causing Hawlucha to enter in a panic and he blows a flamethrower, engulfing him and trapping his small body in the blast. Hawlucha tries to fly backwards but falls to the ground covered in pretty bad burns.

"Blaziken's fire moves have been amplified by the strong Alolan sun. Despite being miles away, as long as there's sun in the sky he can still channel it and use its energy," Bella explains. "Fascinating," Professor Oak comments, "I've heard of that happening when using moves like sunny day or rain dance, but not like this!"

Bella smiles, "Alola just has different affects on Pokemon oddly enough. You've witnessed it with my Arcanine, there's many others that have been affected as well."

"Brave bird!"

Both Pokemon prepare their attacks and fly at each other, causing an explosion on the field and the area to be covered in dust. The dust barely clears before both trainers hear:

"Draw!"

And long behold, both Pokemon are passed out on the field. The crowed lets out a mix of upset and excited cries, finding the match both intense and full of twists. Both trainers return their companions to their Pokeballs and give their thanks.

"I'll have to hand it to you, Ash, I did get a little cocky about the match." Avi giggles.

Ash chuckles softly, "Everyone usually does with me, but I'm not easy to knock out." he says as he grabs his next Pokeball. Avi nods and grabs hers, "likewise, now lets get the show started." she says as she tosses her Pokeball and lets out Mimikyu. "Buizel, I choose you!" Ash shouts and out comes Buizel, crossing his arms in confidence.

Mimikyu looks to Avi, barely having her costume fixed on time for the fight and worried it'll fall. Avi smiles, "Don't worry, that's probably the best patch job I've done in short notice." she giggles softly and Mimikyu happily dances.

"Pika Pika" Pikachu smiles and Ash nods with a smile, "I know buddy, she's so caring of her Pokemon. It's great to watch."

Mimikyu then gets into a fighting stance, looking more cute than anything due to the Pikachu head slightly tilting to the side in a cute manner. "Aqua jet!" Ash exclaims, then Buizel charges at Mimikyu. Due to anxiety of the crowd, Mimikyu starts freaking out and pacing around, not knowing what to do.

"Mimikyu, psychic to control the water around Buizel!" Avi calls out quickly. Mimikyu realizes she can take control and a pink aura surrounds Buizel, now causing him to panic when Mimikyu starts controlling where he's going. She goofs off and makes him do tricks around the arena, the audience finding it cute and quite a performance until she makes him slam into the wall at full speed.

Buizel gets out of the rubble, still ready to fight, "That's it, Buizel!" Ash encourages, "Now jump high and sonic boom!" he exclaims. Avi smirks slightly and Mimikyu panics again. Once the attack hits, Mimikyu stands confused as nothing happens to her and Buizel stands confused as well.

"Fun fact about Mimikyu, she's a fairy and ghost type." Avi smirks more, "Normal attacks don't do anything."

Ash grunts in irritation, "I figured she was some kind of psychic fairy type... this'll be harder if she has more Alolan Pokemon we don't know, buddy." he tells Pikachu and he nods in agreement.

"You wanted a good match, Ash? Here it is." she smiles confidently.
