Chapter 4

I top-toed down the stairs and out the backdoor. I walked to jai who was still curled up in the dog house, "get out of their weirdo" I laughed.

"What do you mean? a bet is a bet." jai was quiet.

"I'm not letting you stay out here in the cold." I said "no way my brothers will nag me forever." he got louder.

"Shhhh, come on I won't tell them if you won't." I let out my hand helping jai out of the dog house and we quietly walked back up to my room.

When we got to the bedroom is was pretty awkward and quiet since jai and I didn't really know what to say to each other.

"Thanks for letting me come inside." jai broke the silence.

"Thanks for keeping me company" I laughed. "should we go to sleep now"? I continued.

"Yea I'm pretty tired after all that happened today." jai began to lay down on the floor.

"You can come up on the bed if you want." I said shyly.

"Umm are you sure?" jai hesitated.

"Yes!" I was grinning and patting the empty space on the bed. jai smiled and hopped on the bed. I reached over him to turn off the light when he grabbed my side triggering me to flinch. we both started laughing and I hit his shoulder. "asshole!" I yelled

"Shhh Hope." we both giggled "so you're ticklish I see." he teased me "no jai don't even start!" I commanded. he grabbed me and started tickling me "no jai no, stop jai stop" I couldn't breathe. I shoved him off of me. we were now face to face on your sides. "now goodnight jai. I couldn't stop smiling. "alright goodnight cutie." he also had a wide grin on his face. I turned my back to his face and closed my eyes to go to sleep. I felt arms grab my waist and cuddle closer to me, all I did was smile and continue to fall asleep.

I woke up early the next morning to see jai still holding onto my waist, I couldn't help but smile and just lay there for a few minutes more.

I heard my dad downstairs and I crept to the kitchen to see what he was doing.

"Any news on gina?" I asked.

"No but we are trying to find out who bashed their house and it will hopefully lead us to gina." he responded while making pancakes and eggs. "can you wake up the boys, breakfast is ready." he asked me and I nodded then ran up the stairs to my room. I began to shake jai to wake him up, he slowly opened his eyes and smiled "well good morning " he said in his deep morning voice then yawned. "breakfast is ready, ima go wake up Luke and Beau, remember you slept outside last night" we both laughed as I left the room and knocked on Luke's. "Wake up faggot" I screamed, Luke shot up and ran out the door right pass me. I moved onto beaus room I opened the door "hey you." He said winking "breakfast down stairs now" I laughed and closed his door. All five of us gathered around the kitchen table and ate out eggs and pancakes "thanks for everything you're doing officer Winzer." beau spoke out

"Oh Beau you boys can just call me Frank and you're so welcome, my team is really trying their best to crack this case as fast as possible" my dad said. "That means so much to us." Luke started but then a tear began to gather in his eye. Jai rubbed his back. it was so sad seeing them so upset, but I had another plan.

My dad left right after breakfast to go to the station. "do you boys wanna do me a huge favor?" I asked as we were still sitting at the table. "if it involved bets I'm not in." jai said causing luke and beau to laugh because they still thought jai had slept outside. "no I need you guys to show me to your house and if you want try to gather up some information on who is behind this all." I added. "what if something happens to us again?" Luke said with worry in his tone "Luke shut up I want to find mom, I'm in Hope." beau said looking at Luke then back at me. jai just nodded. "I guess I'm going to" Luke shrugged his shoulders.

We all got inside my car as beau directed me to their house. it was half burnt down so I wasn't sure how much evidence I could actually get out of it. searching high and low jai stumbled across something, it was two bullet capsules. "put it in the bag" I told him, holding an open bag then labeling it. "what are you gonna do with that?" Luke asked. "I know a guy just wait." i smirked. We continued to search around the destroyed house but it was useless, we couldn't manage to find anything else. "I think it time we head home?" i announced. "yea lets go." beau said, we all walked back to the car when a suspicious car drove past the house, "do you guys know that man?" i asked referring to the guy driving the car. "nope" they call answered. I gave the man driving a death stare and he began to speed along the rest of the block. "That was weird." Jai said. "yea just a little." i barley responded but trying to think at the same time. We drove home but I couyldn't stop thinking about the guy in the car, I had to figure sometime out. 

When we arrived home the boys got out of the car but i stayed in it. "you're not coming inside?" Beau asked. "ummm no i have some stuff to do but i'll be back in a hour or so." "Oh okay then" beau went on. "but if my dad ask please don't tell him about today and just tell him I went over Darcy's house. Darcy was best friend since we were six and our families knew each other so he wouldn't mind if I was there. Beau nodded and walked inside the house the followed by Luke. But jai walked over to the car and asked "Can I come with you?" "Are you sure you want to? I don't want you finding out anything that will hurt you." i said. "thanks for asking but I am a grown man,  can handle it." he said then opening up the car door and jumping in. I just laughed and stared at him. 

It took us around 20 minutes to get to where we were going. I parked the car at an old warehouse, Jai looked confused. "Hope, are you taking me here to kill me?" he laughed "just follow me you idiot" he put one arm around my shoulder as we walked into the warehouse. "RANDY!" i screamed to an older man, around 35 sitting in front of a laptop. Randy was apart of the FBI and he was always helping the police station with cases like Ginas. Over the years him and I got close, I explained to him what I was trying to do by getting involved with this case and he agreed to help me out. "HOPE! how are you?" randy responded then stood up and gave me a tight hug. "Im okay, this is Jai, one of Ginas sons." i explained. "Nice to meet you man, sorry about everything that's happening." randy gave jai a firm hand shake then jai responded "thanks man." Jai was shy and just watched as Randy searched the type of bullet Jai had found and who in the last week or so had bought these types of bullets locally. "Do you kids mind coming back tomorrow for some results, it might take a while." Randy announced. "Yea no problem, thanks a heap for everything Randy." i said while jai and I walked back to the car. The car ride home jai was silent, I looked over at him, his head was down. "are you okay jai" 

"yea"

"stop lying to me jai"

"Im just worried that's all, a lots going on all at once and I hate to sound like a little bitch but I miss my mom." his eyes got a little teary. I didn't say anything, I didn't even know what to say, I've never been in his position. I pulled up to the driveway, I grabbed jai who has his head in his hands and hugged him. He hugged me back and started crying, all I could do was squeeze him tighter, he lifted his head up and looked into my eyes, "thank you Hope." before I could speak he crashed his lips into mine, I didn't pull back, in fact I kissed him back. We sat in the car for another 30 seconds kissing but I had to pull away. "sorry I just lost control" jai apologized but he really didn't need to, I'm not saying I like jai but he was pretty hot but I didn't want to use him because hes vulnerable right now, fuck now I was totally confused. I didn't respod to him i only bit my lip and smiled, he did the same back.
