Frostbite - FOUR

Beth was ordered by Tony to put out all the fires before they spread and to keep her distance if she was to fight someone.

Her hands trembled as she tried to help and put out the fires. Her face was scrunched up in concentration. She let out a yell when one of Clint's arrows started another fire.

She could feel her body weaken and her knees started to buckle with a frustrated scream she built a wall shielding her from any of the blasts while she collapsed to the floor. She heard footsteps run over to her and a familiar metal suit came into her line of sight.

"Beth. Are you okay?" Tony asked. All she could do was let out a grunt of discomfort. Beth felt arms pick her up and carry her to a safer place before flying off the fight. Her eyes struggled to stay open, she caught glimpses of the tiny dude becoming a giant.

"Anybody on our side hiding any shocking and fantastic abilities they'd like to disclose." Beth heard through her communications device in her mask.

She knew that Captain America and Bucky were getting away. Her arms balled into fists, she raised her arms above her head before slamming them down onto the ground. There was a loud crack and the floor started turning to ice.

She finally collapsed onto her back, her eyes wide. Her body was visibly shaking. All around her the floor was covered in snow and ice. She watched the giant man fall and Peter getting smacked across the battlefield. She saw Tony and Rhodey chase after the Quinjet. Sam flying on their tail, Vision tried to shoot at Sam but he dodged it so it ended up hitting Rhodey causing him to start falling out of the sky.

Beth heard Tony's cries for Rhodey. Her eyes finally shut and she was encased in darkness.

Tony took the two passed out teens to the private jet where Happy waited. Happy and Tony reclined the seats so they could get the rest they needed on the way back to Queens. Bethany's eyes slowly fluttered open to see her surroundings. She was back in the jet, she slowly sat up and saw Peter sleeping in his reclined chair.

She got up gripping the other seats for balance and started walking to grab water. She was stopped by Tony, who quickly made her go back to her seat.

She sat the chair back up so she could sit up, Tony handed her a glass of water and then sat next to her. He waited for her to finish her water before he started talking. "What you did back there. Turning the airport into a winter wonderland, was incredible. With more training, you will be able to do so much more. You're destined to do great things. You and Spider-boy."

He left after that, Beth sat there smiling to herself and looked at Peter who was still sleeping. Tony said it himself they were destined to do great things. They could live up to be the heroes they both wanted to be.

The rest of the plane ride let her think. She never really thought of her parents. She didn't remember them so what was there to think about. Beth tried to remember anything about them, even if it was just them walking by, but nothing popped into her mind. She let out a huff of frustration, leaning back into her seat.

"What's wrong?" She heard, startling her. Beth looked at Peter who was just waking up. "Just thinking," she muttered.

"About what?"

She sighed, "my parents."

She just sat there talking to Peter for hours and he would just listen. "You're a good listener," Beth mumbled, tiredly. Peter chuckled softly, "get some sleep, Beth."

They finally landed in Queens, New York. Happy was driving them back to Peter's apartment. Tony grabbed both Peter and Bethany's attention. Peter was teaching her how to use social media.

"I haven't seen you this happy since you learned how to control your powers," Tony said to her. "So that's why I'm enrolling you in school with Peter," Beth's face lit up.

She tried to control her excitement but she ended up freezing the car window next to her. She smiled sheepishly, "oops."

Everyone in the car laughed at her excitement. "I talked to Aunt May and when you need to you can stay over at their apartment. I know you don't like staying by yourself."

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She hugged both Peter and Tony. "You'll start school after you both heal," Peter smiled at Beth and went back to show that her how to use social media.

They made it to Peter's apartment. She stepped out of the car and helped Happy unload their suits. Happy went around to ask which floor. She walked to Tony's side of the car. He rolled down his window.

"Be safe, okay." He told her. "I should be telling you that," she laughed. Peter came around the car and guided her to his apartment. She had her suitcase and the case with her mask in.

"Act hurt," Beth told Peter. She draped his arm over her shoulder, with her other arm she knocked on the door. Aunt May opened the door and her eyes widened at the sight of her nephew.

"What the hell happened?" She said ushering the two teens inside. She laid Peter down on his bed, going to sit on the edge of the bed next to him.

"Who was it? Who hit you?" Aunt May asked from the kitchen. "Some guy," Peter called back. He pulled down his sleeve and was messing with the wristband Tony gave him. Beth had one after she learned to control her powers.

She had no clue what it did, she thought it was something for Tony to keep an eye on her. "So itchy man, God," Peter mumbled scratching his wrist.

"What's some guy's name?" She yelled back. "Uh, Steve." Suddenly a light shined from Peter wristband. Aunt May started asking if it was someone in their apartment building.

"No, you don't know him he's from Brooklyn." He hid his arm while using his other to cover his eye.

"Ouch," he whimpered. She sat on the edge of the bed next to Beth. "Well, I hope you got in a few good licks." Aunt May said handing him the ice pack.

"Yeah. I got quite a few in, actually." Peter said grabbing the ice pack. "His friend was huge, like huge." Placing the ice pack on his eye, "that's much better. Thank you."

Aunt May gave a small smirk, glancing at Beth. "Okay, tough guy," she said getting up. "Love you, May. Hey, can you shut the door?"

Peter slowly brought his hand out from behind his pillow. The light shined on the ceiling, a logo was on the ceiling. It was Peter's Spider-Man logo. A signal.

Peter looked at her and smiled like a child. Beth laughed at Peter's excitement. Tony's words played in her head. They were bound to do great things.
