Frostbite - Ten

Peter and Beth walked through the school hand and hand. All over the school was pictures of Spiderman, even on the school news. Beth looked at Peter who was looking at the tv proudly before a frown washed off his face. "What's wrong?" She questioned, "you're not getting any credit. I couldn't have saved them without you." Beth gave him a small smile as they stopped in front of her classroom, "I don't need them to give me credit. Our friends are safe now, that's all that matters." He gave her a nod while grinning at her, she leaned up placing a kiss on his cheek before disappearing into the classroom.

Beth sat inside detention next to Michelle because Peter was too busy huffing and puffing, Michelle turned towards her showing her a drawing she made of Frostbite. Beth's eyes widened, "woah that's so cool." The girl smiled at her, "yeah I was sketching a new suit design and I was going to give it to Peter since he has that Stark Internship. You think she'd like it?" Beth nodded staring at the sketch, "I think she'd love it."

Their conversation was interrupted as Peter stood up abruptly and walked out of the room, Beth looked to Michelle who just laughed. "Go to your boyfriend," Beth smiled and ran out of the room after him.

She got out of the room just in time to see him lift up one of the lockers and got some more web fluid. They went back to his apartment, he was trying to figure out who the guys in the mask were while Beth was trying to strengthen her legs. She went to the Avengers Tower the day after Washington and Tony fixed her legs. Beth smiled as she walked around the room without the pain of her legs anymore.

Peter paused from his work, "how are you doing?"

Beth smiled, "good." She walked over to him, lifting up his mask and placing a kiss on his lips. "Now, get back to work. I'm fine."

"Remember me? You have information and your going to give it to me now." Beth tried to hold back her laughter at how low the interrogation mode made his voice.

"Alright, chill."

Beth stepped up next to them, "come on." The guy looked at Peter confused, "what happened to your voice?" Peter looked at her, "what do you mean what happened to my voice?"

"I heard you by the bridge, I know what a girl sounds like." Beth tried to hold back her laughter, "I'm not a girl, I'm a boy. I mean I'm a man." Beth leaned on the car silently laughing.

"Come on, man. I need to know who's selling these weapons. I need to know, give me names or else." The man slammed the trunk door causing Peter to flinch and take a step back.

"You ain't never done this before, huh?" Peter sighed, "deactivate interrogation mode." Beth stopped laughing and stood up, "look, man. This guy is selling weapons that are crazy dangerous, they can't just be out on the streets."

Peter walked away, frustrated. "The other night you told that dude if you're going to shoot someone, shoot me." Peter turned around, "that's pretty ballsy."

He walked back over to them, "I don't want those weapons in this neighborhood. I got a nephew who lives here."

"Who are these guys? What can you tell us about the guy with the wings?" The man shook his head, "other than he's a psychopath dressed as a demon, nothing. I don't know who he is or where he is." Peter leaned his head against the car, letting out a loud sigh. "I do know where he's going to be," Beth's eyes brightened.

"Really?" Peter said, standing up straight again.

"Yeah, crazy dude I used to work with. He's supposed to be doing a deal with him." Peter cheered walking off, "hey, Spider-baby. Get back over here." She blocked his path with a wall of ice, "can I give you some advice?" The man said to Peter, "hm?"

"You gotta get better at this part of the job," Peter tried to play it off. "I don't understand, I'm intimidating."

"Staton Island Ferry, eleven." Beth looked at Peter, "that's soon."

While Peter used his Spidey-wings, Beth dove down into the water. She stayed close to the ferry but underwater so no one could see her.

She saw Peter jump down onto the bottom platform, she rose out of the water standing behind the criminals and in front of Peter.

"Hi boys," her hands flew out freezing their feet to the ground while Peter tossed them around. Once all the guys were knocked out they looked at the last guy by the truck. Beth thought she recognized him from somewhere.

Just as she took her first step towards him people came out aiming their guns at them. "Freeze, FBI!" Beth looked at Peter, "what are they doing here?" Peter shrugged before pushing her behind him discreetly.

Then they heard the sound of the wings activating, Beth's eyes widening. She ran towards the FBI pushing them away, "everyone move!" She screamed, ushering them out of the way. The vulture flew at Beth and Peter at lightning speed, the talons of his suit gripped onto a car and flung it at Beth. She threw her arms up in front of her creating an X, a wall of ice blocking the car from reaching her. The car slammed into the ice with a crash and the alarm started blaring.

Peter web gripped onto the vulture's foot, the FBI started shooting at the winged man with no success in taking him down. Peter connected the end of the web that he was holding to the blaring car,

Peter was able to web onto the high tech weapon the vulture was holding. "Activate taser web!" The vulture's grip faltered causing the weapon to fly at them. It landed on the floor of the ferry with a bang still firing. Beth threw her arms out and froze the weapon along with Peter who covered it in webs. "Watch out!" Peter cried out to her but Beth didn't have spider sense or reflexes as him and a beam from the weapon fired at her. She let out a cry as it grazed her arm. And then the weapon exploded, tearing the ship in half.

The ship creaked as it started to separate, "Beth keep the water from splitting the boat up." He noticed her struggle, "are you okay?" Beth nodded standing up, her mind focusing on one thing. To keep the boat from sinking, her wrists flicked out on either side of her. The current of the war making it harder but the pressure made it nearly impossible.

The mental strain caused her to break out into a sweat, she heard Peter above her webbing onto either side of the boat trying to keep it from falling apart.

She felt the pressure ease up, Beth looked up and saw the ship was held together by webs. As the cheers broke out from the civilians the webs snapped. Water flooded in faster than Beth could keep up with, she had to move higher up the ferry as the water started pooling at her feet.

Her eyes widened as people got trapped on the bottom floor, holding onto anything to keep them from floating away with the current. A spark ran through her as she saw Peter pushing himself as he gripped onto two webs that were stuck on the sides of the ship as he tried to hold it together.

She let out an anxious breath of air, feeling the power flow through her body and to her finger tips. She felt the water coming, with all the strength that she had she willed herself to keep going. People screamed as they saw it, two giant waves heading for the ferry. The waves hit the ferry pushing them together, she let out a cry from the mental strain it put on her.

Peter looked down seeing his girlfriend swaying in her spot, the pull on his two arms eased up as the waves pushed the ferry together. The water on the bottom floor flooded out to rejoin the two new waves of water.

As the ferry neared to be connected on them a flash of pain ran through her. Like her body had been set aflame, she never felt this pain before. As she let out the most painfilled scream, she collapsed.
