Levi didn't come out of her room for the rest of the day, even to see Ciel and Sebastian off on their next job, instead she curled up on her bed with the crimson fabric bunched around her, the needle darting back and forth in her shaking fingers, she wanted to get the gift finished soon, she was meeting Madame red for tea in the morning.
Madame red and Levi had become rather close friends and she had been working on a dress for near a week "Done!" she grinned and held the gown up, it had a fitted bodice that sat off the shoulder and had a ruffled long skirt, a large rose sat at the hip "quite lovely if I do say so myself" she set the dress in it's box and wrapped a few strips of white linen around her hands, every time the scissors or needle had slipped she had added to her collection of wounds, she had blisters on her hands and they shook so bad that several stitches were crooked, but she didn't regret a single minute, Mei-Rin stuck her head in the door "ooh, that's absolutely Lov'ly that is" she ran a hand over the dress, Levi adjusted her own rumpled dress and smiled "thank you"
Sebastian returned much later than usual with Ciel beside him, Levi greeted them in the front hall with a tray of Chamomile and honey tea and a cinnamon scroll fresh out of the oven "welcome home young master" she smiled sweetly, Ciel grunted in acknowledgement and shuffled towards his study with her following, Sebastian stood for a minute, trying to clear his head, this was the second time Levi's smile had caught him, something about her was different, he quickly pushed the thought aside and went to clean up the kitchen to find the three idiots already sitting at the bench polishing glasses, not a single one was scratched, cracked or burnt "what on earth are you doing?" he raised an eyebrow, they looked up "sorry Sebastian, we're almost done, Levi set us up with this lot before we go to bed" Finny smiled and set down a teacup.
Sebastian just nodded and walked towards the study, it was about time for Ciel to get to bed, when he opened the door the lamps were off except for the one at the desk, Levi stood there humming quietly and straightening up the papers "where is the young master?" Sebastian peered around the room "I sent him off to bed, he insisted on getting himself ready" she smiled and walked out with the tea tray "good night Sebastian" she whispered as she past, he stopped her before she could leave though, taking the tray off her and ruffling her hair, she squeaked and her face turned crimson but he just smiled "good night Miss Levvinne" he headed for the kitchen and she hurried off to her room, trying to stop her hands shaking, she felt that something was very wrong. the shadow in the window smirked and melted away into darkness, soon it would come together.
