Chapter 20

I couldn't believe the pain in my chest. I couldn't even breathe.

How could he? How could he do this to my mother?

I couldn't believe it, but my already too broken heart shattered as I stared at the photo on Julie's phone. It was a picture of Frank and Molly Tempest (the town slut) kissing at some obscure place.

"I'm sorry babe, I don't know what to say," Jules said sliding her hand into mine and squeezing it slightly. "I wish you didn't have to see that... but I thought you should know."

"It would've come out eventually. He's such a miserable f*ck! He and Molly probably do deserve each other. And my mother deserves better than this," I said looking at the disgusting picture once again and seeing the way they were wrapped up in each other and Molly's trashy clothes. She was truly a wh*re just like everybody said she was.

My shock and disbelief quickly turned into white-hot anger. "I have to leave," I said getting up having decided that I would confront Frank.

"You can't just walk out of school!" Jules said desperately.

"I can and I will. You don't have to cover up for me."

"Stay and talk to Harper, the counsellor, anyone. Don't get out of here consumed by anger and rage," she said barring the door.

"Please, let me go and don't try to stop me," I said leading her away from the door where she hadn't even tried to put up a real physical fight. After kissing her softly on the lips, I took off.

I headed straight to Frank's office at the town council buildings, and to my surprise; it was allegedly the bugger's day off! Well, the last time I checked he was complaining about the job and lack of time off and having to stand in occasionally for the ailing sheriff; what a load of bull! He was busy screwing Molly Tempest and making a fool of mom.

I drove back home, and smack-dab right there in the driveway was Frank's deputy's truck.

I drove right off the road, and onto the paved walkway before running to the front door and letting myself in.

I was greeted by Molly spread out on the sofa watching Vampire Diaries.

"What are you doing in my house?" I asked standing in front of the T.V.

"I was just, I was just..."

"You were just watching Vampire Diaries, right?" I asked sitting down next to her.

"Yeah, me and your dad just met and he'd invited me over for a late lunch," she said smiling as if she'd managed to convince me -a fool to her- that she was just here for a late lunch.

"What exactly was on the menu? Some d*ck? Meat... balls? You're a real shameless hussy; I'm not a stupid two year old who can't figure out the reason behind your little visit."

"Your dad is going to leave your fat, old and ugly mommy for me," she said sneering.

"I hope he does, because you're trash just like him," I said pulling at her hair. "And I swear if you ever talk shit about my mom again I'll kill you!"

I dragged her from the sofa and pushed her to the floor but not before she'd called for her Loki to come save her.

"What the f*ck are you doing?" He asked pulling me away from Molly and backhanding me square on the face as he helped her up.

If I ever found her crossing the street and I had my car; I swear I'd flatten her!

"You're cheating on mom, and you have the nerve to treat me like this?" I screamed charging towards Molly. She knew Frank was married and still had the guts to f*ck around with my mom's well being. I didn't care much for Frank because he was bad through and through in my eyes, but Molly, she could've said no.

This time Frank caught me by the neck choking me as I tiptoed to keep from being strangled.

"Molly, please leave. I have things to take care of," he said flatly.

Molly sneered at me one more time relishing in my containment before she left.

"You think you're such a wise guy, don't you?" He said shoving me onto the sofa. "I'll teach you to mind your own business," he said taking off his belt as I rubbed my sore neck.

I feared Frank and I knew that he could do terrible things to me without even flinching. And now what scared me most was the murderous look in his eyes.

I had to escape.

Leaping over the back of the sofa, I started for the outside door as fast as I could run.

My hand was already on the handle when I was yanked back hard and crashed onto the floor banging the back of my head on the uncarpeted solid hardwood floor.

I was rendered breathless and my vision swam as my body tried to fight the effects of shock and head trauma.

He pulled me up using my jacket and slammed me into the wall.

"Who told you you could meddle in my business, huh? Do you think that you could disrespect me and get away with it?" He asked punching me on my side with the belt wound round his knuckles.

I crumpled to the floor feeling as if my ribs had been broken by the single blow.

F*ck I was a goner.
