Chapter 35

---The Next Day---

I woke up at 10.20am and there was no sign of Esther in the room. She probably woke up at 6.25am. I walked out of the room and there's no sign of Esther. I expect her to be in the living room, watching anime but nope, i was wrong. I searched for her everywhere but there's no sign of her. Did she go out? She didn't even tell me that she is going out today...

I then heard my phone made a vibrating sound and i unlocked it to find out that i have just received a message from Emily. 

Emily:'Ashley, how come your sister is here? Why didnt you tell me that she's coming here?'

Me:'What? What do you mean?'

Emily:'Your sister is in my house now, dont tell me you dont know that she came here'

Me:'Are you serious?! I didnt know that she will go to your house. What is she doing now?'

Emily:'She's talking to it. Could you come to my house now? I have something to do today and i feel uneasy if she stays here'

Me:'Ok, im coming now. Dont tell her im coming cause she didnt tell me that she went to your house'

Emily:'Ok, better be quick'

Me:'Ok'

Once i reached outside Emily's door, i pressed the doorbell and the one who opened the door was not who i expected. Instead, it was Esther who opened the door and once she saw me, she hurriedly tries to close the door but failed because i put my feet in between the door. 

Emily opens the door when she saw Esther trying to close the door and she let me in. We talked for awhile since Emily mentioned that she has something to do today and then we went home. But what happened to us on the way home made us stunned and scared.

When we got home, mum was sitting on the cushion in the living room and she saw Esther's scar on her hand. I expect her to be shocked but she was not shocked at all. Did she know before me? Mum does not look angry at all and she stares at us since we were shivering the moment we stepped inside the house because of what happened just now. 

We explained to mum what happened and as we explained, the flashback started to come back to my mind and also Esther's too. 

---Flashback---

Esther and i were walking back home when suddenly, the moment we reached the void deck of our block, we heard a scream from afar, more like from another block. We wanted to go to where the scream was but it seems like we don't have to because... the scream was coming towards our direction as we could hear the scream's footsteps slowing approaching us. 

We got scared and started moving backwards until it's a dead end where there's nowhere to escape anymore. The screams and its footsteps were starting to freak us out until we didn't realize that we were near the lift and hurriedly pressed the lift button. 

While the lift was on its way down, the screams was getting closer to us and its footsteps was starting to fade for an unknown reason. The lift has arrived and it opens the door and we hurriedly went inside. Esther immediately closes the door and the screams were gone now. 

We feel relieved being alive when we felt like we were about to die just now. 

---Present---

After we two have finished our explanation to mum, she seems to be taking it all into her mind... What was that word again...? Recount? Wait, that's the wrong word, i think. Oh well. 

Mum then told us to get a good rest and have fun in school tomorrow. We say goodnight to her and then went inside our room as she went back to her room too. After a few minutes in the room, Esther was watching at one of a J-Pop girls group music video(MV) and i got interested too so i went to watch it with her but then, i received a message from Austin. 

Austin:'Please stay back tomorrow because Ms Ling would like to see you personally and also your sister too. So, please tell her to stay back as well. Emily will also be staying back too. That's all. See you tmr in sch.'

Honestly speaking, Austin was too formal to me and if i'm remember correctly, i did tell him not to be so formal to me because i feel uncomfortable when people talk to me formally. I'm sure you also feel uncomfortable when people or your friends speak to you formally, right?

I then replied an okay to Austin and watched the MV with Esther as she was into it now. 

---The Next Day---

I woke up at 10.20am again and i saw Esther was still sleeping peacefully. I thought she always wake up at 6.25am... How come today she did not wake up at 6.25am? I decided to listen to anime songs with my earpiece on so i would not disturb Esther from her sleep.

As i was listening, Esther woke up and i looked at the time she woke up. It shows,'12.15pm' and i greeted her as she got up from her bed. She saw me having my earpiece on my pair of ears and took out the left one from my left ear so she could also listen to what anime songs i was listening to. 

After thirty minutes, Esther's phone made the vibration sound and Esther took out the earpiece so she could unlock her phone to check the latest notification. 

It seems like she received a message from someone because her reaction was quite oblivious. She then showed me the message. It was from Austin but why Austin messaged her instead of me? I mean, he can always tell me then i'll tell Esther. It's quite unexpected that he sent a message to Esther but oh well, let's see what the message says.

Austin:'Hey, just to let you know, i will help you figure out who is behind all these you are going through with your sister and maybe friends. So, you and Ashley can rely on me as much as you can. But please, whenever you have went through something terrifying, tell me and explain what happened. Also, if you figure out something small or big, tell me too. Okay? That's all. Bye'

After i have read the message, i became blank-minded. I sort of understand what Austin meant but on the other hand, i do not understand what he meant. I stared at Esther blankly as she forced me to sit down on my bed but my body would not budge at all.
