Chapter 10: Esther's Conditions

Monday morning has came and i woke up at 5.26am again. I am starting to wake up at this timing every single day. I saw Esther sleeping peacefully. I decided to wake her up by shaking her body but it's no use. She would not wake up at all. My eyes started to tear up and tears started flowing down my cheeks as i put my head on my right hand which was holding Esther's hand. Tears dripping onto Esther's bed and our hands. I don't know why i suddenly broke into tears but seeing Esther like this makes me broke into tears. 

At 6am, mum came inside our room. She was aware of what happened to Esther and she is extremely worried about her too. Both of us are worried about her. Mum saw her still sleeping and told me to inform my form teacher that Esther is not coming to school. I nodded and went to do my morning routine.

Today, i did not see Amy in the bus. We always go to school together since we live near each other. When i reached the parade square, Amy has already arrived. When she saw me, she waved me as i walked to her while waving at her. 

The moment i sat behind her, she realized that Esther is not with me and knew that she is unable to come to school. She was also aware of what happened to her and decided not to ask me about her. We talked about other stuff that we have in common.

When the last lesson has ended, Amy walked out of the classroom and waited for me outside. I was about to step out of the classroom when a hand suddenly touches my left shoulder and i looked behind to find that no one was behind me. 'Who touched my shoulder just now?'I asked myself inside my mind but decided to shrug it off. I stepped out of the classroom and went home with Amy while Austin locked the classroom and left with his friends.

Amy told me that she wants to visit Esther but i refused and she kept on insisting on visiting Esther so i gave in and let her visit Esther. 

When we went inside Esther's and my room, i was shocked to see that Esther was lying on my bed instead of hers. Did she move to my bed by herself or someone help her? If someone help her, she should be awake. I put down my schoolbag and sat down to hold her hand while Amy put down her schoolbag beside mine and sat down beside me. 

At 4pm, Amy went home because her mum wants her to be home by 4.05pm and it took her three minutes to get home. I was in the living room, playing games so i would not disturb Esther. While i was playing game, i received a message from Amy and i quit the game to view the message. Since she is online now, i might as well chat with her for awhile.

Amy:'Hey, is Esther awake?'

Me:'No, she is not awake yet'

Amy:'How about taking her to the hospital?'

Me:'Why should she go to the hospital for?'

Amy:'She is not even awake until now so you should bring her to a nearby hospital'

Me:'I'll ask my mum the moment she gets home'

Amy:'If your mum brings her to the hospital, you might as well stay by her side cos your mum is working'

Me:'Then how about school?'

Amy:'Don't need to worry about that! I will help ya tell cher!'

Me:'Thx!'

Amy:'You're welcome! Go and take care of her!'

Me:'Okay!'

Since she suggested bringing Esther to a hospital, i'm sure mum will bring her to the hospital. 

---Time Skip---

The moment mum got back home, i went to ask her to bring Esther to a nearby hospital and she says that she will bring her to the hospital now. I told her that i'm coming along too and she allows me to come along but i cannot go to school since i have to stay by her side when mum is away.

After Esther was put in Ward Room 625, the doctor told mum and i about Esther's conditions. Mum and i was shocked when we heard about Esther's conditions! I was expecting bad news but instead, it was good news! 

Esther has been sleeping for the past few weeks is because she is just tired and needed more rest but the doctor says that she was trying to wake up but something was holding her back from opening her eyes. It's good news for the first part but it's bad news for the second part. Mum and i walked back to where Esther is.

When we were inside her ward room, mum took her stuff as she told me that she will be going for work and left the ward room, leaving Esther and i behind. I sat down on a chair that was beside the bed and held Esther's hand in mine while i looked at her worriedly. I wonder what is going on inside her mind now. I wished i could know what is it. 

Suddenly, i feels that my phone was vibrating inside my pocket and i took out my phone. I received a message from Amy and i unlocked my phone to view the message. It seems she is online now. Guess i'll chat with her for awhile.

Amy:'How's Esther? Feeling any better?'

Me:'Yeah, it's not serious. Just needed more rest but...'

Amy:'But?'

Me:'She was trying to wake up but something was holding her back from waking up. That's what the doctor says.'

Amy:'How can the doctor tell?'

Me:'Well, he saw her eyes trying to open but couldn't open.'

Amy:'Why she could not open her eyes?'

Me:'Didn't i just tell you? Something was holding her back from waking up'

Amy:'Oh ya. Forgot about that. Then, is Esther feeling better?'

Me:'Idk. I can't tell. Her face is still the same. So, how's school today?'

Amy:'Oh, hope she gets well soon. Nah, school is still the same for me'

Me:'Are there any hwk(homework)?'

Amy:'Nope'

Me:'Then, did anything strange happen today?'

Amy:'I think you can say something strange did happen today'

Me:'What happened?'

Amy:'Emily didnt come to school since Esther was absent on the second day. You saw her in school on the first day when Esther is not in school. Right?'

Me:'Yeah, i saw her. How come she didnt come to school?'

Amy:'Apparently Miss Lim says that her mother got into an accident. Emily have to stay by her mother's side so that's why she didnt come to school'

Me:'Then, which hospital did her mother went to?'

Amy:'Which hospital are you in right now?'

Me:'I'm not sure. I didnt pay attention to the name of the hospital when i arrived'

Amy:'Nah, it's okay Anyway, bye!'

Me:'Bye!'

Wow, we chat quite a lot. I wasted too much time chatting with Amy. Hopefully i don't bump into Emily in this hospital. She will say some strange stuff that i don't understand if i bump into her. I put my phone back into my pocket and held Esther's hand in one of my hands. 

"Esther, get well soon, will ya? I missed you. Please wake up."I whispered enough for her to hear it if she still can hear even though she is sleeping.
