"Where did the boy come from?" Alpha Hudson asked, frowning.

Jarred and I looked at each other, then Thomas then back at each other and then we looked at Alpha Hudson.

"We went out, Dad."

"Why on earth would you do that?"

"To warn my family! That's why and if you have a problem with it, keep it to yourself. We came back alive and well and we even saved another life! We have way more pressing issues!"

"I am tired of your disobedience, Rayne! I have had enough of it! You are acting just like a Dark Moon member!"

I frowned up at him.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean, Hudson?" I glared at him.

I could see that Jarred was a bit shocked at what his Father had said and who knows what is running through Thomas's mind right now.

"You know exactly what I mean. You don't belong here and you never will. All you do is cause trouble!"

"Now, wait just a freakin minute, Dad! This is my mate you are talking to! The future Luna, whether you like it or not. You may be Alpha now but you will still show some respect!" Jarred called out.

"Respect! I do not respect parasites!" Hudson growled, and looked at me. "You will never be our Luna."

"Dad!–"

"They are closer in! "I yelled at him.

It was silent then as Alpha Hudson stared at me, eyebrows furrowed.

"What?"

"We found Thomas in werewolf territory! Wounded by wolfsbane bullets. They are closer than before! "

He was quiet.

"But since I'll never be Luna here, I'll leave this to you, Alpha." I practically spat at him.

He looked as if he was trying to form words, maybe an apology.

"Good luck." I frowned, pushing past him and leaving the infirmary.

I made my way to Jarred's room where some of my clothes were. I hadn't brought everything over yet, but I'm glad I didn't.

I can't stay here. I'll never fit in here, no matter how much I want to help and be accepted, I just can't. As much I wish I could, I can't change where I came from. I'll always be a Dark Moon Pack member.

"Rayne, I am so sorry about that." Jarred came on out of nowhere.

I looked at him and sighed.

"Why are you sorry?"

"My dad...he's just–"

"It's okay, Jarred. I get it. I don't belong here, so I'm leaving."

"Like hell you're leaving. Rayne, I need you here, with me. I need you, so no. You're not leaving me. Not again."

I looked back at him and he seemed disturbed.

I make my way over to him and hug him, snuggling against his chest as he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me in closer to him.

"I love you, Jarred. But the constant backlash from your father takes a tole on me. Sometimes I believe him."

"If you leave, I'm leaving with you. I can't not be with you. "

I shook my head quickly.

" No, you have to stay here. You're the Alpha. You're pack needs you."

"They need their Luna just as much Rayne."

I opened my mouth to say something yet stopped knowing he was right.

I looked down sighing.

"A pack is unbalanced without a Luna. "

I nodded, of course. Leaving my mate would be completely stupid of me but leaving an unbalanced pack is simply heartless.

"Okay, I get it. I'm not leaving. I won't leave. But Hudson and I have to compromise with each other. I can't stand him always shooting me down."

"We'll figure something out. We always do. "

I nodded and staying in his arms. His whole body looming over mine, taking me closer into his body as if he was trying to shield be away from any danger that might come.

"And I love you, too." He whispered.

I smiled and hum at the warmth of his breath tickling my ear.

****

"Thomas, you don't remember anything?" I asked him.

He shook his head.

"I'm sorry, I wish I did but I don't."

Jarred and I had woken up early to start figuring out what we were going to do about Thomas while Alpha Hudson and Luna Katrina figured out what they were going to do about the Hunters that were closing in.

"I find it hard to believe that you don't remember a single thing besides your name." Jarred frowned.

"Yeah, how do you think I feel?" Thomas shot.

"Okay, we'll you can stay here for the time being but not alone. We can't fully trust you to just wander around the territory." I sighed.

"Understandable."

I nodded.

Eve and Jason had volunteered to watch over Thomas while we think on how to get his memories back.

They should be here at any moment.

"Hey!! We're here!!" Eve came into the holding cell without knocking.

Jason followed behind her and smiled gently at us.

"Hey guys, long time no see." Jason said.

"Yeah man, you too. What have you guys been up to?" Jarred asked.

"Getting ready Incase we do end up having a war." Eve said, not pleased.

"War??" Thomas asked from behind me.

We all looked at him.

"Why would there be a war?!"

"Confidential for you, Thomas. Get up." Jarred said.

Thomas frowned but stood up nonetheless and left with Eve and Jason.

"We'll take good care of him." Eve smiled and left the room.

Jarred and I stood in silence for a bit before he broke it.

"Is it just me or does it seem like everything is getting crazier and crazier by the second..."

"Not just you..." I sighed.
