"Wait a minute, let me wrap my head around this. So Thomas was in fact the wolf that those hunters were talking about and those hunters were telling the truth." Alpha Hudson said with his fingers at his temples.

"Precisely..."Eve said.

"And Thomas rampaged because he's being bullied and can't do anything about since no human knows about werewolves." He continued.

Thomas frowned slightly.

"Yes, sir." Jason said.

"And now we are going to war because Thomas couldn't see a therapist or something?!" Hudson yelled.

Thomas shrieked and backed away from the approaching Alpha.

"No. We are going to war because you murdered a hunter. And for no reason!"

"I did what I had to do! Hailey was going to kill you Rayne and we all know it, I was just the only one who didn't care about how you felt on the matter. You were attacked, you can hate me for it if you want but I don't regret saving you. You are my son's mate, the future of this pack. You're useless if you're six feet under."

I was taken aback by his reasoning. I never thought I would here Alpha Hudson yelling at me about how much I matter to the pack.

"Hudson...you care?" I asked.

"Of course I care! Why wouldn't I care?!"

"Because you hate me."

Jarred frowned and looked at his father.

"I don't hate you Rayne. Sure, I hate the things you do and say but I don't hate you."

We stood there silently for a couple more moments before Hudson broke it.

"So they'll probably initiate a trade. A life for a life."

I sat down in Jarred's lap and he held me.

"We can't do that. Thomas is only a child."

"So was Hailey." Eve said.

"She was adult enough to make threats." Luna frowned.

"Rayne, have you spoken to your parents lately?"

"Not since Thomas got here."

"We'll have to call them over. We'll need as many wolves that can fight as possible."

"Speaking of which." I stood in front of Hudson.

Hudson held a finger up at me and shook his head.

"Not a chance. If you were so much as wounded on that battle field, Jarred would know it and it would get him killed because he's too focused on your well-being."

I nodded, knowing that he's undeniably right.

"None of the mated females are fighting. Unmated have a choice if they want to or not. But the mated ones are far too precious."

Jarred looked at me with an expression of 'that is correct'

"So, you aren't fighting. Eve isn't fighting and your Luna isn't fighting."

"Understood." Eve said.

"We will need the three of you to watch over all the mated women and children. That is just as important."

I nodded.

For once I agreed with Hudson because his logic made sense. I know that if I were to get hurt or even die, Jarred would be too fixated on the loss of his mate to focus clearly on the war at hand. He'd loose his life and the pack would loose an alpha.
