Present
Evie
"Mal did you know she was coming?" I asked and Mal nodded falling into my lap.
"I'm sorry E, I was stressed and not paying attention when Ben handed me the list of VKs coming over." Mal said. I took her hand and made her stand up.
"Well we better go out and greet them. She brought her pirate crew with her and... M, we need to go out there.. now." I said not thinking when I saw her, Mal stood up and saw who I was looking at and led me outside eagerly.
"Evie!" I heard Dizzy say excitedly as she ran over. I bent down and wrapped my arms around her, I was so happy she was finally able to come to Auradon. Dizzy turned to Mal and gave her a quick hug. I tapped Ben on the shoulder to talk to him while he dealt with the rest of the VKs.
"Ben could I show Dizzy around." I said and he nodded. I linked arms with Mal and then took Dizzy's hand.
"Come on, I've got a lot I want to show you." I said and she followed excitedly. Mal leaned in and whispered to me.
"Do you think she knows.. about us?" She asked looking concerned as Dizzy ran ahead to look at the art studio. I turned to Mal and took her hands in mine.
"If she doesn't we will tell her, I just don't want to overwhelm her with so much." I said and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. We followed Dizzy into the art studio where she was admiring one of Mal's amazing pieces.
"Mal this is amazing!" She said "How did you do this?" Mal smiled and walked over to the canvas with an image of herself and I, then picked up a can of spray paint.
"Lots of practice." She said adding one last detail then walking back to me.
Past
Mal
A couple of weeks have past since I kissed Evie, we were both avoiding each other, I made sure the boys told me if she was there or not, they didn't know though. I stood at the bottom of the hideout waiting for an answer from Jay, it usually didn't take this long.
"Uh, no.. she's not here.." he said hesitantly, I got a feeling he was lying, but he was my brother he wouldn't lie to me. I climbed the stairs to the hideout and when I saw her I almost turned and ran. Evie was standing at the top of the stairs waiting for me.
"M, please don't go." She said and I consider trying to outrun her, Jay, and Carlos, but the odds were not in my favour.
"Evie I can't do this today, not today." I said and she looked hurt.
"Not even for my birthday.." she said hesitantly as if I forgot.
"Evie, that's the entire reason I can't." I said trying to think of an excuse but I couldn't. She turned into the hideout and walked over to the couch. I turned and walked downstairs the stairs, trying to get out of there fast. Once I got to the ground I ran until I hit the edge of the isle, then I continued running until I made it back to the hideout. Evie was just leaving by then and that's when I got an idea. I walked over to her and took her hand.
"E, just please follow me." I said and she hesitantly agreed. I led her to a roof I had built a small hideout on top of a long time ago, it was still nice, especially because it had an amazing view of Auradon, and tonight, like every night on Evie's birthday, there were fireworks.
"M.. this is amazing.." she said in disbelief. I sat down and leaned against the wall.
"Evie we need to talk about what happened.." I said and she nodded.
"I will say, it caught us both by surprise.." Evie said and I laughed a little.
"Yeah, it did." We paused and there was a moment of silence between is, not awkward, just silent. I looked at her and like we both made some sort of silent pack she came toward me and gave me a hug.
"I missed you. I hated avoiding you.." Evie admitted and I wrapped my arms around her.
"I did to.." I said and she sat next to me. We both watched the fireworks until I dozed off.
