I arrived at the enchanted lake and Evie was sitting at the edge staring down. I approached slowly but she turned and looked at me, catching me by surprise.
"Oh good your here.." she said hesitantly. I walked over and sat next to her. She was being careful of avoiding the water which seemed a bit suspicious but I didn't ask.
"So why did you need me?" I asked and she looked away, playing with her ring. I put my hand on her shoulder.
"E.. is everything alright?" I asked quietly. After a minute of silence she stood up and pulled her ring off.
"We're done." She said throwing it into the water and walking off. The entire time she had a look of guilt and hurt on her face. I sat there in shock and stood up.
"Evie what do you men?" I said grabbing her wrist, she quickly pulled it away and turned to me.
"I mean WE'RE THROUGH." She said and left without another word. I sat down and felt like I was just punched in the gut. I looked down in the water and grabbed the ring, then put it in my pocket. I pulled out my phone, shaking, and called Ben crying to tell him what just happened, a couple minutes later he was there and he hugged me.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He said quietly. I shook my head and continued to cry. Ben was like a brother to me now and I knew I could count on him.
"Lets go back to the school, you can stay in my dorm tonight." He said and I nodded standing up. He led me back to the limo and I sat in the back looking out the window. Eventually I fell asleep.
When I woke up, it was the next morning, I was laying in the extra bed Ben had in his room, he was gone already, probably because he had class. I saw the note he left for me.
Mal, I spoke with Evie last night and she seemed totally confused when I brought up the break up. Maybe she was sick or something? You should talk to her.

I rolled my eyes and sat down on the bed.
"Yeah sick of me." I said out loud and laid back. I figured what was the point of going to class or even trying to stay at Auradon if I lost my best friend.
