This chapter is in the present. Right after Malvie's wedding.
Mal's POV
I looked at Evie, she was reading a book on her bed. I walked over and sat down next to her. She laughed a little. I smiled.
"What?" I asked smiling. She looked up at me and smiled.
"Do you remember back when we were younger, on the isle?" she asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, those days were fun. We didn't have a care in the world." I said looking at the book she was reading. Something about chemistry. I smiled thinking back to when I had a huge crush on Evie, but she didn't know. The good old days.Into the past...
Mal's POV
I looked out on my balcony down to all of the children who were invited to her birthday all but one. Me. I probably was invited, but my mother must have hidden the invite from me. She wants me to be miserable.. I look towards the mirror and see I might cry I quickly whip my eyes and turn back towards the children. For a brief moment the little girl in a blue princess dress with dark blue hair looks up at me. She smiled slightly, but I give her an evil glare and she looked away quickly.Evie's POV
I saw Mal staring at me from her balcony I smiled but she glared at me so I looked away quickly I felt bad for her.
"Evie time to open your gifts!" my mother said. I smiled slightly and sat down in the makeshift throne that was made for me. My mother started to hand me gifts one by one, lots of blue, gold and useless junk. I could care less about the gifts I only wished Mal could have come. After the gifts everyone was required to leave, but my mother gave everyone a free companion on their way out. We had toucans, gargoyles, crows, eels, and one small dragon. I took the dragon and placed him next to me, I would take it to Mal. I snuck away from my mother finally and walked to Maleficent's castle. I knocked on the door and Mal opened the door, she had a bruise on her eye.
"What." she said bitterly I held out the dragon and she looked at it bitterly.
"I'm sorry Mal doesn't have time for friends right now." Maleficent said from behind the door. She walked out and stood behind Mal. She terrified me so I turned and ran. I felt tears forming in my eyes I felt really bad for Mal.Present Time
"Mal!" I shouted trying to snap her out of her daze she shook her head and looked at me confused.
"What?" she asked and I rolled my eyes. I shifted over so I was next to her.
"I said when do you want to get lunch." I said and started to braid her hair. She shrugged.
"Whenever your hungry." she said but something was bothering her.
"Mal you okay?" I asked and she nodded. I grabbed her hand and pulled her off the bed.
"Lets get lunch." I said pulling her out the room. She followed me but her mind wasn't in it. I snapped my fingers in front of her face.
"Yo, sleeping beauty." I teased and she scrunched her nose up. I laughed a little and she smiled cutely at me.
"Your funny, but don't call me that." she said getting super serious and her eyes glowed green. I started to fake cry and she broke immediately.
"E, I'm sorry." she said and hugged me I smiled and hugged her back.
"Its okay." I whispered and she took my hand.
"Lets go to lunch." she said and I nodded. We walked to the cafeteria.Mal's POV
As we walked into the cafeteria I saw Ben sitting alone Audrey was giving him an evil look and I walked Evie over to the buffet table. We both took plates mine consisted of mostly strawberries when I left. I looked at Evie and she walked towards where Ben was sitting.
"Hey Ben." I said and he didn't even look at me. Evie sat next to him and I sat next to her.
"What's wrong?" Evie asked. She had a natural talent for telling if someone was upset before they told her. Just like when she was younger.Back to the past..
I looked at my mother who had just shooed Evie away. She always did that. She grabbed my arm and started to drag me back to my room.
"You're not allowed to leave your room, until further notice!" she said slamming my door. I glared at the door evilly until I heard her walk away. It might seem like I am tough, but I'm not as tough as most. I slid down the door and started to cry. I wish I had someone who would care about me. And wouldn't beat me if I did something wrong. I heard someone outside and walked over to my balcony I was still crying but I didn't care.
"Mal?" I heard a soft gentle voice. I looked over the edge of my balcony and saw Evie. I looked at her evilly.
"What do you want?" I asked but immediately regretted it. "I'm sorry.. My mother puts me in a bad mood." I said and she shook her head.
"Mal I get it. Can I come up?" she asked and I looked behind me.
"Sure.. But if my mother comes you're going to need to hide." I said and Evie started to climb the vines of our castle walls. She reached the top and I put out my hand to help her up. She got up and stood next to me, I finally got a good look at her. She had soft brown eyes midnight blue hair. Her outfit was a small light blue dress and some dark blue leggings. She smiled a little.
"Wanna know something Mal?" she asked and I nodded my head. "I have a talent that only I know about. My mother doesn't even know." she said and I felt my eyes grow wide. She smiled slightly and whispered into my ear.
"I can tell someone's emotions just by looking at them." she said and I backed away a little.
"Seriously? Do you have control of it or do you just know instantly?" I asked and Evie shook her head.
"I have control over it. But I promise, I will only use it with your permission." Evie said to me I looked at her confused. Why was she being so nice to me? I thought we were villains.. Maybe we are more..
"Okay." I said and Evie smiled. My mom pounded on my door and startled me.
"Run!" I mouthed and ran over to block the door.
"Mal open this door instantly!" my mother said. Evie jumped over the balcony, looked back smiled at me and jumped down. My mom pushed through the door and I fell to the floor.Evie's POV
Mal was scared as I left so I gave her a smile and jumped down. I ran as fast as I could my heart sank when I ran into my mother. She gave me a bitter look she was angry, very angry.
"Evie you are supposed to be in your room!" she said. She grabbed my wrist and started to pull me home. I did everything I could to get away, but she was stronger. I stopped struggling and fell to the floor, refusing to move. My mother didn't want to carry me so she left me there and I ran away as quickly as possible. I went to the hidden clubhouse me Jay and Carlos had. I went inside and sat down, hoping someone would come soon. When I finally heard someone coming I looked and saw Mal. She had tears in her eyes and was watching her back very carefully.
"E-Evie.. Can I-I hide hear?" she asked walking over to me. I nodded my head and she sat next to me. She looked like she wanted to cry, but Mal typically never cried.
"What happened?" I asked and Mal shook her head and showed me her back. She was bleeding. I grabbed and old cloth and started to clean up the wound. Jay and Carlos came into the hideout, they both looked at Mal in shock then backed up a little. Most people were scared of her.
"Um Evie you do realize that is MAL right?" Jay asked. I rolled my eyes and continued to clean up the blood.
"What do you boys want?" I asked and they both looked at me.
"Nothing, we are just hiding.. How did Mal find this place anyway?" Carlos asked. Mal rolled her eyes.
"I followed Evie. Now stop asking me questions I don't want to talk to either of you." Mal snapped and looked back at me. Her eyes softened, she didn't hate me, which was a good thing. I picked up another piece of cloth and wrapped it around her.
"That should stop the bleeding for now." I said and the boys looked at me like I was crazy.
"Why would you help her? What would she do for any of us?" Jay asked scoffing. I looked at him angrily, then back at Mal.
"She is my friend, and she needed someone who would care for her. So be quiet and stop asking questions." I said and they both sat down and stopped questioning her.Present Time
Mal's POV
I looked back at Ben he frowned and looked towards Audrey.
"She is a lair, and a cheater." Ben said and scoffed.
"I should have listened to you Mal." Ben said and I nodded.
"I told you she was evil. Ben I promise you will find someone who likes you for you." I said and looked at Evie and smiled. "You will know because they will always be there, and help you if your hurting." I said and took Evie's hand. She smiled at me and Ben smiled.
"You two are cute. I am sorry for trying to break up your relationship." he said and I shook my head.
"Its okay. We are all still friends. So that's a plus." I hugged Ben and he smiled.
"Thanks for cheering me up." he said and Evie nodded.
"Glad we could help!" she said joyfully and started to eat. I smiled. I was glad Evie was always there for me, even when no one else was. I ate my food and continued to think about our lives back on the isle. It was interesting.I hope you enjoyed the first chapter of this story!
