The old man slightly shook his head and placed his hands in the front pockets of the bright white apron he was wearing. "I'm worried for her, Morrie. She's almost eighteen, you know? I don't know if I have the strength needed to fulfill my promise."

"Don't worry about it, Sir. Layla is a very strong girl. She can handle these kinds of things. She's stronger than what we give her credit for."

"I just hope you're right, Morrie." I hope my baby girl will be strong enough to handle what's waiting for her. Sir Dunking thought to himself feeling somewhat defeated.

"You know that new family that moved in the village last week? Well, they have a son apparently. He's actually pretty cute, but definitely not my type. I mean, only two days ago I heard him whining about the fact his father asked him to carry a sack of potatoes. What's so hard about that?" Layla asked Robin as they slowly made their way deeper into the woods following a narrow trail of rocks.

She was pretty far away from her village, but she knew these woods like the back of her hand. After all, Sir Dunkin and Layla always loved to hike here, surrounded by trees, lakes, and various other elements bringing nature alive. The woods were also a great place for hunting as small animals and various breeds of birds lived in these forests.

"You know," Layla said, resuming her one-sided conversation with Robin, "I don't think this place is right for me. Now, don't get me wrong; I love this village, Father's bakery, and everything else. But have you ever thought about stepping out of this small village?" She paused, turning her head to her left where stood the mighty hill separating her village from the Palace.

"I want to go on the other side of that hill and see what else is out there. Yet, of course, we all know this is never going to happen as long as Father is here. I wonder what it is about the Palace that makes him so furious. I heard there are so many beautiful clothing and jewelry shops there. Oh! Did you also know that –"
