Recap

Layla jumped out of her bed, squealing like a child, and ran to the bathroom. Sir Dunkin ran a hand through his messy hair and chuckled. He had only taken a few steps to leave the room when the bathroom's door opened slightly, and Layla's head peeked out of it.

"I just wanted to say that I love you, Dad! You're the best!" she shouted before closing the door again so she could hurry up getting ready.

Dunkin broke out in a hearty laugh. "I love you too, Layla," he shouted back to the closed door. "Maybe a bit too much for my own good," he added, whispering only for him to hear.

The sound of metal clashing stirred Layla in her sleep, causing her to groan in frustration and cover her ears using her pillow. The young girl wasn't much of an early riser, due to which, instead of being awoken by the chirruping of birds, it was the smiths that worked across her house that greeted Layla every day.

Realizing that her poor ears were not going to be freed from the unwelcoming sound anytime soon, Layla jumped out of her bed and made her way to her room's only window. Sliding the window's frame upwards, she was met with a gush of fresh air and took a deep breath.

Her anger vanished as quickly as it came and was replaced with a peaceful smile. She leaned ahead, her head peeking out of her room and observed the scenery she witnessed every other morning.

Layla observed the busy alleys of Risnuch, covered with sand that flew in the air when horses passed by while pulling chariots. She watched how everyone walked around, laughing as they bought their groceries or talked among themselves while carrying their daily jobs with a smile on her face.

She didn't know what it felt like to be rich and have all the luxury in the world, but she knew that the close, tight bonds that were formed in this small village were not comparable to any amount of gold or money.

Layla was completely immersed in her thoughts when she heard a deep voice call out to her, bringing her back to reality. Looking around to find out who the individual was, her eyes crossed Julian's.
