Recap
Layla thought about Julian's retreating figure and the sad smile on his face when he'd left. She really needed to talk to him and pull him out of his misery. "Hey, do you think you could send Julian up here? I really need to talk to him, but I'm kind of on bedrest right now," Layla asked.
Morrie rolled his eyes, making his way out of the room. "You were already hard to deal with before, and now, I'll have to face your laziness twenty four hours a day because you can't get up. Just great," he muttered.
Layla stuck her tongue at his retreating figure and settled back in her warm, comfortable, inviting bed with whom she'd be spending lots of quality time the upcoming days.
The Royal Mark : CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Julian knocked once on Layla's bedroom's door, waiting for her to let him in, but he was met with silence. He called out to her a couple times as well, in vain. He cracked the door open enough to peek inside and heard her low snores.
Chuckling to himself, he entered the room and walked over to her bed. Morrie had told him that Layla wanted to talk to him about two minutes ago, and here she was already asleep in her bed.
He noticed the layer of goosebumps covering her arm and went to place the comforter over her small frame. The gentle movement stirred Layla in her sleep, causing Julian to freeze. He didn't want to wake her up because she needed to rest.
Or at least, that's what he told himself, when in fact, he was simply nervous to hear what she had to tell him.
Julian slowly took a few steps back towards the room's entrance to make his exit, keeping his eyes on her sleeping figure. When he turned the doorknob and pulled the door towards him, a creaking sound resonated in the room, causing him to curse under his breath.
"Julian?" a raspy voice called out to him.
He inhaled a sharp breath and let go of the doorknob. Turning around, he met Layla's blinking eyes as she adjusted to the room's brightness. She stifled a yawn and patted the empty side of her bed, asking Julian to join her.
