Recap
"Would you mind me asking why is it that Julian stopped talking to Layla? I'll understand if you can't tell me," Morrie asked.
Sir Dunkin sighed and shook his head slightly. "I don't –"
"It's fine if you don't want to tell me," Morrie interrupted, figuring out what the older man was about to say. "Just don't lie to me like you've been lying to her for all these years. She's going to be an adult in less than two months and yet, everyone is still treating her like a child. I think she deserves to know everything that's been hidden from her."
Sir Dunkin looked at him with wide eyes. "By everything, you mean..." his voice trailed.
"Everything," Morrie said with finality before walking to his room, leaving Sir Dunkin to think about what to do next.
The Royal Mark : CHAPTER EIGHT
The following morning, Layla stood in front of the bakery dressed in a yellow tank top and white cotton shorts, with braided hair attached by a red hair tie. She was slightly nervous at the thought of seeing Julian in the small shop, but she knew she had to talk to her father no matter what.
Sir Dunkin had left the house earlier than usual; something he only did when something was bothering him. The young girl took a deep breath and prepared to step on the first of the two stairs leading to the door, which was abruptly thrown open towards her.
Before Layla could process what was going on, a huge sack of flour flew in the air, releasing most of its content at the same time. She was blinded for a second by the dust that covered her and shook her hands around to clear her vision. Once she could see again, she shrieked as she examined the damage on her outfit.
What. The. Hell?!?
At the sound of a suppressed laughter, she looked up at the one and only: Julian. Layla glared at him the best she could, but instead of causing the desired effect, Julian began laughing out loud.
What was wrong with him? She thought to herself. The fact he just kept laughing while clenching his stomach only made her more furious.
"What? You find this funny?" she asked, gritting her teeth while gesturing at her ruined outfit.
